Who: Remus Lupin and Sirius Black Where: Outside of bungalow 5 When: Late Saturday night What: Painting the side of a house, some people have work to do, you know! Rating: Probably low Status: Incomplete
Remus tried to be quiet as he worked, mixing another bucket of paint. His arms were aching and he wouldn't be half surprised if they fell off completely. He needed a break, he needed to go home, wash up, get out of these disgusting clothes and take a nap before starting again in the morning. But he really wanted to finish this stripe of red before stopping for the evening.
This was bungalow 5 and Remus was working very hard on making the outside look like a Gryffindor scarf had been wrapped around it. Red. Gold. Red. Gold. All the way around. He was only on the fourth red stripe, just about done the first wall, but had run out of paint - again. Still, there was no way he was going to leave it unfinished, and so he came to be shaking a bucket of paint for all he was worth at some-time-after-dark. Remus hadn't taken the time to check the exact time, because no matter what, that was a full three seconds that would be lost forever. In the grand scheme of things, Remus knew three seconds to be very much inconsequential in a day that started at 6 o'clock and ended at whatever time it would be when he finished this stripe, but he still felt it was wrong to steal that time away from whoever was paying him by doing something that was, itself, inconsequential. What would knowing the time change? He still had the same amount of work to do. The only difference would be that he would know the time as he did it, which was wholly unnecessary to his doing a good job.
