Amelie was oblivious to the fact that her parents shared a house. She hadn't known things had been so serious between the two. Sure, they shared a daughter, but Amelie had grown up accustomed to a mother who survived very well without a man. It was a strange concept to understand.
Having expected a very serious conversation, she was surprised with the friendly greeting. "That's fine," she shook her head, keeping her arms tucked up against her. She turned on point and headed back down the porch steps.
