Bella rolled her eyes. She may have kicked sand at him, just to be spiteful, but she resisted, merely crossing her arms over her chest and looking down at him.
"And what do you expect me to do, hmm? It's not as though I have magic. I don't think you have anything to worry about," she said, looking at him closely. She bit her lip, trying to keep herself from saying anything. After a minute, she let out a groan and rolled her eyes, "Why did you leave? You just left. Your family wasn't that horrible, Sirius. I love your parents, I don't see how you can't."
There. That was it. Her voice hadn't sounded angry or upset in any way, just curious, and if she admitted it to herself, a little hurt. Bella looked out at the ocean instead of looking at her cousin, not wanting to see whatever reaction he would have. She was almost positive it would be laughing.
