Remus understood that look, and gave a regretful nod. She wasn't dead. Only. If one took the time to think about it, if she was returned to the time from which she'd left, she probably was. The difference, this time, was that James out-lived her. That they wouldn't go in search of Sirius, that baby Harry didn't have to be hidden away from Remus who wasn't allowed to know where. This time, it was only Lily - and it was such a terrible loss.
Rather than say anything else, Remus took one of the crisps and popped it in his mouth, crunching down on it loudly. Deciding that they needed something to drink with this, Remus then made for the refrigerator again, spotting his forgotten glass on the counter.
"I have ale, pumpkin juice, pineapple juice, water and milk," he offered. There was also something stronger in the cabinet, but he wasn't offering that unless James specifically asked for it.
