Remus smiled at James's praise, but it sounded empty to him. It lacked the underlying teasing tone. If Remus didn't know any better, he'd think James was just humouring him. Going through the motions. He might have been imagining the whole thing though, so Remus said nothing about it, setting down the glass he'd picked up and poked his head in the refrigerator.
"I've leftover eggplant lasagna from dinner," he suggested, peeking over the top of the door at James. Scorpius had very interesting tastes in food, but at least it came out edible. "Or... I think we have muffins." Remus looked over his shoulder and there, on the counter, was a plate of muffins Teddy had brought over when Remus had gotten out of the hospital. "Yes, muffins. What are you in the mood for? I might also have homemade crisps, if the boys didn't eat them all already."
