Pansy could peace in cooking. She could take her time and create any number of different tastes and textures. Everyone in France lived to eat and when she had moved Pansy discovered just how bad English food had been. So she learned. She experimented and after four years of living on her own she'd turned into an impressive cook.
Dinner had been fish, of course. It was the freshest thing on the island. Grilled salmon with a mango salsa and mixed salad with a light, sweet dressing. She'd bought some squash from the farmer, whatever his name was and sauteed it and the end result was perfect. A berry cobbler was cooling on the counter as she washed the dishes from their supper.
"Thank you," she said while she dried the last plate. "I needed a break from George. I love him dearly, but we've never spent this much time together before and I never know if he's going to be offended by what I say or not."
