He'd finally received Scorpius Malfoy's 'ok' to leave the house. He'd also received a few precautionary warnings to go along with that 'ok', but at least he was cleared to walk around the village, as long as he didn't engage in 'strenuous activities'. Remus had no intention of running anywhere. He thought that was what Scorpius had meant by 'strenuous', but hadn't wanted to ask. He hadn't wanted Scorpius discouraging anything he might have actually wanted to do, even as unlikely as it would be for him to engage in such activities. This soon. Or even ever. With Sirius. Or anyone at all.
Remus's right arm was in a sling, bandages still healing his shoulder, coaxing the bones and the tendons and everything else that made a shoulder a shoulder back together again, his arm held across his stomach. His heart was securely lodged in his throat, but that was alright. Come what may, he had to do this. As unfair as it was to Sirius... he still had to do this. Even if it was a terrible idea that was sure to bite him in the backside as soon as he let his guard down.
The thornless rose, twin to the one Sirius had brought him what seemed like ages ago, was held loosely between the fingers of his right hand, while Remus knocked on the cottage door. He then took a step back, licking his lips nervously as he waited for the door to open.
