Oh, is it too late now to say sorry? Yeah, I know that I let you down Is it too late to say I'm sorry now?
Daphne had really fucked up. She knew she fucked up when this fog of bitterness and anger lifted and she saw what she had said to one of her best friends. And she had seen what his reply to her had been. He was right to be angry; she really didn't blame him. She really didn't know what had come over her and made her feel at liberty to say those things.
It wasn't easy for Daphne to apologize. It was decidedly difficult for her to say to anyone that she had fucked up, and fucked up royally. It was even more difficult when she knew she was in the wrong, and when she had hurt someone she considered her best friend. So it was nearly a week later before she worked up her courage to visit.
She was standing outside his door; a bouquet of flowers in her hand and the shoulder of her top slipping off her shoulder. She didn't know how to do this. People apologized with flowers, right? When you fucked up, you bring flowers, right? Merlin, she was fucking nervous. She shouldn't be. It's Oliver. But she really had made a mess of things.
Daphne took a deep breath, and reached up her hand to knock on the door. She never knocked; she was used to just walking in, but with the way things were, maybe it was best to knock first.
