Laura was actually quite excited about their dinner that had been planned. For her this dinner was an opportunity, and one that so easily fell into her lap should not be passed. In her determination to make absolutely certain that Ernie had the easiest time to adjust to their new lives as he possibly could, Laura figured making an effort to keep on of his best friends in their lives was a great way to help. Beyond that, there was the part of her that wanted Hannah's approval, if she had any hope of one day actually being loved by Ernie, she assumed having the approval of those close to him would go a long way. Tonight was clearly an opportunity, then, that couldn't be passed up.
The House Elf had prepared the meal, of course, though Laura had spent the past few minutes making absolutely certain that every detail was perfect. The table was set just right, the food was done exactly so, and nothing was out of place. She probably had more at stake, at least in her mind, than anyone else involved in this dinner, and as so, she wanted to give it the best opportunity for success.
Laura was dressed in one of her many cocktail dresses, this one a light green shade that favoured her eyes. She was smiling when Alex and Hannah came through the floo, and greeted them both as soon as they finished dusting themselves off from the soot that happened with floo travel. "Hannah, you look lovely," Laura said (and yes, this was a genuine compliment. "Not so bad yourself, Alex," she smirked at him, and then did what any proper hostess would do and kiss him on the cheek. Etiquette would have her do the same with Hannah, but Laura didn't want to push it, she wanted a chance at Hannah one day liking her after all. Thankfully, as she was not as acquainted with Hannah as she was Alex, this wasn't a complete disregard of etiquette, either.
"Thank you both for coming," she smiled as she stepped aside to give them room to start wandering. "I suppose I should give you a brief tour, though, the layout of our home is quite straight forward so it won't take long at all." Laura explained before pointing out the important things they need to know (kitchen, dining area, sitting areas, and the loo).
