The trouble with gathering more than one Hufflepuff in one place was that you didn't have to contend with people playing nice - it was people who were actually nice. Hannah, for her part, was actually excited for the evening. Aside from correspondence, she hadn't really heard from Ernie since she left school and she was looking forward to catching up with him.
She descended the stairs to the foyer carefully, wearing one of the new dresses she'd picked up: something in a nice floral print. Her hair, always a point of pride for her, was held back by a plain headband and left otherwise loose. When Alex said she was looking good, she felt a smile coming on. The fact that he'd gone with 'babe' turned it into an almost wry smirk instead.
When she got to the bottom of the stairs, she dipped into a semi-ironic curtsey before joining him over by the floo. Traveling this way always made her nervous, and she toyed once with her engagement ring, turning it once around her finger. It was a habit she'd gotten into lately. She gave Bole a nervous smile and when he indicated she should, she took a solid handful of floo powder and stepped in to make the short - but somewhat harrowing - trip to Laura's (and soon to be Ernie's) place.
