Who: Draco Malfoy and Daphne Greengrass When: August 27, 2000, Early Evening Where: Greengrass Holding Corp, offices of the COO Rating: Low Warnings: Pureblood propriety and pleasantries at their highest Summary: The engaged couple spend some time getting to know what they can expect from one another.
It was her home away from home. And why wouldn't it be? Daphne's father had been bringing her to the office off and on even when she was a little girl. She had sat on his knee during his more casual staff meetings, she had seen how he handled problems and strategies from the time she could read, and she had loved every minute of feeling closer to him. She knew everything he did didn't necessarily work out as he wanted. She had only ever seen him completely and utterly miscalculate once. But that once had cost she and her sister in a way that still hurt her.
The hour was growing late and truthfully, most people had gone home for the day. There wasn't entirely much more for her to do. Really, the other reason for her delay had everything to do with the fact that she was feeling rebellious. She didn't like the idea of having her movements restricted. She liked even less being in a strange home that wasn't her's no matter how opulent and amazing the surroundings. Most importantly, she couldn't stand not having a wand. It was horribly inconvenient.
She stood up and leaned against the back of her desk, arms crossed, she gazed outside the windows. They were charmed so that no one could see in, but seeing out afforded her some sense of not being enclosed. A good thing. Ever since her imprisonment she still felt uncomfortable even with the thought of being in dark and closed spaces. She turned and started to gather up some parchment and ...what was that noise?
Daphne moved to the door of her office and pushed it open a little further, "...yes, hello?"
