Morag smiled at Rose's attempt to insult her. "I love to see the work of my colleagues," she replied, giving a half-shrug. She thought that perhaps this situation may have been dealt with better if she hadn't been drinking, but if she walked (or danced, as it were) away now, she would have lost. There was a sudden surge of anger that found its way into her blood and she couldn't place just the reason why. Morag knew she had no claim on Kevin, and she truly had been looking out for Steve when the two star-crossed lovers had run off together, but there was something else there. Perhaps it was the fact that Morag just plain didn't like Rose, and her opinion wouldn't change there regardless if Kevin was in her life or not. But she felt there was just something else bubbling under the surface.
"You know very well that I have someone take care of Demeter for me," Morag replied to Steve coolly. She had only one horse, and hardly knew anything about saddles and bridles. Morag just liked riding on pleasant days. It was something she and her mother used to do. "Just as designers might not matter to country folk, I have no interest in farm business."
Rose's compliment brought Morag's attention back to her. "Not mine." She placed a hand on her heart in a motion of humble thanks, though who knew how sincere that was. "My mother's. I hope you're having a wonderful time. They really outdid themselves tonight."
