rp thread: kevin & morag
WHO: Kevin Whitby & Morag MacDougal WHEN: 20 October 2000, late afternoon/early evening WHERE: Kingscote, then wherever the Magpies practice RATING: Low/Medium WARNINGS: Swearing and stuff. SUMMARY: Kevin and Morag go on a First Date.
Life had been pretty peaceful in the MacDougal residence for the past week or so. After she and Kevin had their blow-up fight (which had nearly scared the house-elves to death), the air in the house had cleared a little. While some tension remained, Morag remained formal and polite to her fiance, greeting him whenever she saw him and even seeking him out to show him a swatch of fabric to ask his opinion. Not that he had an eye for fasion -- really, she'd be better off asking Tavish, but that wasn't possible at the moment -- but she wanted him to feel like she was trying. What Morag really wanted to ask him was about his family, now that she discovered that they were dead, but that didn't seem like a good topic either. Especially not when there was no lead-in to the discussion; she couldn't very well just see him in the corridor and say, "Oh, by the way, tell me about your dead family members."
And then last night she met Rose. Well, as much as you can meet someone through parchment, anyway. That conversation had revealed more to her than Rose probably suspected. Morag didn't feel about about lying to the young girl about the relationship she had with Kevin. In fact, she rather enjoyed dangling him in front of the other girl, like a cat toying with a mouse before the kill. She felt sorry for Steve, though. He seemed to have genuine feelings for Rose, and Morag was only pushing his fiance to the edge with claims of romance, or at least physical attraction. She thought for certain that Kevin would hate her now and refuse to have anything to do with her, but to her surprise, he handled himself quite well. Morag was impressed. Perhaps Rose was right; perhaps they were a good match.
Tonight was the night to find out for sure, though. Morag checked herself in the mirror one last time before leaving her bedroom and heading down to the entrance hall, satisfied with her look. Quidditch meant casual, but casual didn't have to mean ugly. She wore a pale blue merino wool sweater, a grey jacket, dark fitted jeans, and gray boots. She smoothed her hair as she went downstairs, hoping that she was there before Kevin.
