Who: Katie Bell and Tavish Urquhart When: Monday Where: Pure Rating: Medium (for snogging) Warnings: Snogging! Language? Summary: Katie finally visits Tavish after he's home.
Katie felt terrible. She hadn't visited Tavish after he'd woken up, not yet. How could she when all she kept thinking was that he had another girl on the side? Wondering if maybe he was in love with her, or worse, she was in love with him? Knowing that he likely cursed her away from the battle? Quidditch had her buggy too, worried about what was going to happen with her teammates, her friends. The entire world was going mad and Katie along with it.
However, she couldn't stand being away from him for so long. Putting on another one of her few dresses, she made her way to Pure and Tavish's flat, knocking on the door as soon as she arrived, fidgeting slightly. She wanted to know if he felt better. She missed him so damned much, even if she was somewhat angry with him.
Tavish was growing used to being back at home. Mostly he sat around with his crups when there wasn't anyone visiting but he'd missed the animals so much that it was nice. His magic was still on the fritz but he tried to ignore it. He had his therapy sessions and he was determined to get it back properly.
With as many visitors as he'd had he was almost glad for the evening when Silas went down to the club. Of course after a few momennts of listening to the thumping in the floor he was grumpy again. Not uncommon with his mood swings.
When he heard the knock he assumed it was Nick with a question. Eager to be needed again he jumped up to answer it. "I knew you'd-" he stopped when he saw her. His eyes looked down to her legs but he tried not to look impressed.
"Didn't expect you." He nearly closed the door again. Katie hadn't been far from his mind since he woke but she sure as hell hadn't shown. After the chewing out from Morag and Blaise's views he didn't know what to think. After a pause he stepped aside to let her in.
As the door opened, Katie raised both eyebrows. She waited, her heart sticking in her throat, and she swallowed. She half expected him to close the door in her face. Reaching up, she rubbed her upper arm and then frowned, her eyebrows drawing together for a moment before she stepped inside. He looked rough and unhappy.
"Are you feeling any better?" Katie asked. If she was acting cowed, it fit. She felt awful that she hadn't visited, but had he known that she'd been there every night while he had been in a coma? She hadn't told him, so she doubted anyone else had.
Tavish glared a little, not answering her at first. He walked into the flat. "What do you want to drink?" He asked, trying not to think of the last time he'd given her a drink.
Ouch. Sighing, she ran her hand over her face as he turned to walk into the flat. "I'm alright. I don't need anything." she murmured, walking over into his flat. She paused in the middle before she turned to face him.
"I'm sorry I didn't visit. Things are complicated." When were they not?
Tavish nodded, a small shrug, and went to pour himself a glass. He'd been warned that he shouldn't drink but he figured he needed it.
"Yeah sure, of course," he responded flatly. "You know what's complicated Bell? Being seventeen and trying to figure out excuses to skiv off of class or freetime to go down to the hospital wing. That's complicated." He moved to sit down, not bothering to offer her a seat specifically.
Another one. He was good at getting them in, wasn't he? She winced at that and didn't sit down. Instead, she leveled a look at him and took a deep breath.
"I was there every night, Tavish. From the time Silas left to dawn. It didn't matter that there were Death Eaters everywhere. I was there." She let out her breath and then worried her lip for a moment. "I'm sorry I didn't visit. I'm angry about a few things, to be quite honest. And confused."
"Yeah, I know," he said gruffly, his eyes focused on the drink. "They told me." He didn't know what to make of it. She'd come every night but hadn't come now that he was concious. "Sorry I woke up," he responded gloomily.
Oh fuck. Everyone was angry it felt like. "And what'd I do to you?" He asked, swallowing down his drink and finally looking up at her.
"You do realize that with everyone around you it was a bit strange for me to show up? People started asking questions." she paused, her cheeks flushing a soft pink. "People like that Morag girl."
Pausing, Katie looked away, almost drawing in on herself. "You cursed me, didn't you? At the battle."
Frankly, he didn't think about it but now that she mentioned it he understood. "What'd you tell them?" He asked, raising a brow but softening some. Seeing her blush was cute but he was still a little angry.
"Yeah, I know Morag's opinions," he said with a sigh, rubbing his face. "And Blaise's." That one was much better.
When she accused him, sort of withdrawing he stood. "Katie-" he stepped closer, his hand held out. "I didn't curse you-" he had good intentions after all.
"That I was a friend. Mostly, they didn't ask. Silas was awkward, but I think that she was glad that I was there." Katie's brow furrowed with hurt as he mentioned Morag, but Blaise had her curious. She'd struck an odd sort of truce and almost friendship with the Death Eater since finding Tavish together.
She looked at him, wanting to believe that he hadn't cast the Imperius curse on her. "Then...it wasn't you who forced me away?" she asked, hoping it hadn't been after all.
"Katie-" he ran a hand though his hair. "It wasn't like that. I had to get you out of there. If something had happened or someone had found you-" Shit he was in trouble.
"I was trying to protect you. I panicked." Didn't it count that he ended up in a coma for it?
He did. He'd cursed her. With the Imperius curse. Her stomach clenched and she paled, her eyes burning. "I understand why you did it." her voice shook only a little, something she was proud of. "It still doesn't make the curse any less horrible. Have you ever felt it?" she asked, turning her gaze towards his. Her own was haunted by the spectre of the years between now and the necklace, trying to forget her part in nearly killing Dumbledore and her own brush with death.
He watched her pale and stepped closer. "Bells," tenetively he reached out to her, his fingertips brushing her arm. "I-" he paused, looking a little ashamed. "No, I haven't," he told her.
"I didn't know how else to get you out of there." She had to understand he was just trying to help. "If something- worse- had happened to you..."
She looked almost withdrawn completely, though she didn't shy away from his hand. Instead, she stared down at the ground, remembering all too well the compulsion that had made her take something deadly towards Hogwarts, the same thing that nearly killed her.
"You should have just asked me. Asked me!" she grit her teeth, trying to fight off that irritation at the panic she'd felt. "I know why you did it, but it wasn't right."
The more withdrawn she looked the more worried he was. He hadn't considered the spell that big of a de. He'd done what he had to- he was keeping her safe. It had obviously truly bothered her though and he started to wonder what it felt like.
Drawing her into his chest he frowned. "I'm sorry, Katie, he said quietly. "I didn't think it'd effect either of us this much." He didn't point out that asking would have been no use.
Katie felt him tug her close and she let him, still feeling stiff though it wasn't directed at him. He'd fucked up, yes, but his intention had been pure. He didn't mean to cause her harm. He'd meant to keep her
"I never told you. Back in school...when I went to Mungo's." she swallowed, pressing her face to his chest for a moment before she continued. "I was cursed then. With that curse, to carry that necklace."
She wasn't exactly relenting against him but he didn't know what else to do. He didn't even understand what was wrong. Either way it felt good to hold her.
"This is why you didn't come see me at all?" He asked as things started to click.
As she explained about Hogwarts he stiffened himself. "Shit Bell- I didn't know! I'm sorry!" He held her tighter a moment before it occurred to him that he had no right and let her go. "I'm- why didn't you tell me? Who the fuck did this?"
"I know, and that's why I'm not going to hate you for it, Tav. You didn't know." She closed her eyes as he squeezed her, looking up, her brow furrowing as he let her go. "I didn't like to think about it. The curse damage took six months to undo. It was...the most terrible time in my life." Taking a deep breath, she reminded herself that she was safe. Tavish was safe. Lifting her eyes, she shook her head. "It's not important."
He felt horrible. He wanted to just curl up and make it go away. "You should have told me," he whispered again. His hand lifted to cup her jaw, unsure of what else to do.
"Yeah it is- if they're still alive," his tone was dangerous as he devised ways to kill whoever it was.
Katie shook her head, reaching up and brushing a strand of blond from Tavish's eyes. He looked tired and now he looked upset. She suddenly felt worse than she had earlier, but this time it was aimed at herself. "I'm sorry I didn't." she murmured, her brow furrowing again. "Tavish, it's done. They're...it's done, alright?"
Tavish smiled at first, enjoying the brush of her fingers, but when she continued he frowned. Opening his eyes he examined her. "Why are you protecting them? Do you know who did it, Kay?" He asked her, stepping in again, his hand moving possesively to her hip.
Nodding, she paused for a moment, her eyes closed, before she decided to let him know. "It was Malfoy. He was trying to murder Dumbledore." she breathed before pressing her forehead against his shoulder as she fought back the memories that flooded her head. She didn't want to face this again. Seeking out his lips, she gave him a soft kiss, sighing against them.
His body tensed immedeatley at the name. "Malfoy?" He growled. "Draco?" He didn't doubt her for a moment but was instantly flooded with hate for the man. He'd always disliked him- since he'd bought his way onto the team and knocked Tavish off.
He wrapped his arms securely around her. "I'll kill him Bells," he promised just as her lips found his. It was nice to kiss her again, his stomach reacted pleasantly, even through his guilt. "Bells-" he breathed softly against her lips before deepening the kiss slightly.
"Yes." she nodded, hating the twist in her gut at even Draco's name. Tavish's promise wasn't met with any sort of protest. Katie rather hoped that he did. She had no love for Draco.
As Tavish deepened the kiss, she leaned into him, one hand sliding into the hair at the nape of his neck. Circe bless, she'd missed him. A dark rage filled him and he struggled to keep it contained. The ferret. The arse. He didn't know when or how but he would have Draco's head for this.
For now he tried to focus on the kiss. She was soft, warm, familiar enough to be comfortable, and new enough to be thrilling. His hands clenched in her robes slightly as he shuddered from the touch. As he let his tongue slide over hers he had to bite back a groan. Her taste was intoxicating.
Katie wasn't aware of his struggle, only aware of his arms around her and his lips on her own. He was warm and she was overjoyed that he was alive. The anger she felt at him had dimmed, replaced by a different sort of rush. She felt his fingers tangle in her robes and she did groan, deepening the kiss even as his tongue pushed past her lips. She didn't worry about Silas or Morag right now, simply because he was with her. No one else.
The groan shuddered along his nerves as he soaked her in. He responded easily to the deeper kiss- pushing away all thoughts of Draco, Silas- anyone. He'd been told know strenuous activity but he didn't see how this counted really... Sex? Was sex strenuous? He smirked into the kiss as he considered a few ways that he could lay back and take it easy.
Breaking the kiss just long enough to smile herself, she chuckled and opened her eyes to look at him, her lips still only hovering a bare inch away from his own. "What?" she murmured, before starting to slowly guide him back towards the couch. She was certain he wasn't supposed to be doing anything to strain himself, so she wasn't going to let him. They weren't to that point, yet, though, but she was at least going to make him relax.
"Nothing," he answered, still smirking. He only grew more amused as she urged him toward the couch. He knew there was no way for her to have read his mind but it sure felt like it right now. With a small chuckle he sat and pulled her down.
Despite his amusement and arousal he couldn't get over the fact that she'd still not been there at all since he woke. "You should have come sooner Bell," he told her, a small frown forming on his lips. "I-" shaking his head he pushed it away. It was done. It couldn't be undone.
