She knew what he was doing. They'd known each other too long and too well to to really be able to hide. Verity watched the play of emotions across his face and felt both guilt and a desperate need to fix things. For once she had to admit that they were beyond her fixing. She would do her best but she had little hope she would succeed.
"He's torture happy, okay? Don't give him a reason to and I'll do my best not to as well. I'll figure out a way to let people know he has you and hopefully... someone can make him let you go. Okay? You won't be here long. And I'll send word to your sisters, some how. I have a little money I can send too. It's not much but it will help." Talking like this, like there was a plan that would actually do some good helped.
"As far as I can tell I can stay down here though. Let me know when you get hungry and I'll make us something to eat, okay? Or if you're cold. It's no trouble. I promise. I want you to be as- well- as comfortable as you can be. I wish I could get through these," she shook the bars but they didn't budge at all.
"I guess on the bright side we get to see each other indefinitely..." She tried not to sound too cheerful about it. "Afraid I've become shit company though."
