Verity was in the back of the house, trying to back as far away as possible though every time she got more than a few feet away she was shocked to the point of losing her breath. The smoke was intense and filling her lungs but she was trying to stay low. The only thing she'd thought to grab was her journal and pen as she'd fled from the house, knowing it was her only way to contact someone.
Now she was worrying on top of trying to back away from the flames. Someone was on their way here. She didn't know who it was but they apparently knew who she was and Lee was coming. She hoped Lee made it before the woman did, not knowing who (or how safe) she was.
She was trying to back away again when she heard her name. At first she thought she was hearing things but before long she realized that it was coming from inside the house and she knew that voice. Verity only hesitated a half second before running back into the burning manor home.
"Lee?!" she screamed. Bad idea. Smoke filled her lungs and she coughed strong but all she could think about was Lee in here somewhere- and him not knowing the layout on a good day. "Lee!? Baby stay low!" she called, trying to do the same herself.
"Say something so I can find you!" What was terror was threatening to turn to panic. She could lose him in this. This fire could kill Lee and it would have been her fault.
