SUMMARY Higgs picks up Silas to her relief.
She believed Terence when he said he would come get her, he never lied to her in the past (that she could ever have told), but she knew he was busy, not to mention she was sure he would have to clear it with...whomever he took orders from. So as she waited, as patient as she could, she continued to fold her origami flowers with careful precision and hung them with the bit of string she found in the corner of her cell. As the light began to fade behind the up-to-high window Silas had to put away her distraction and laid in the driest corner she could find, curled up stroking Charlie's soft fur. She could not believe that Rosie's fiance had offered to come get her too. It had been physically sickening to "chose" one over the other. She missed Rose, was worried about her; the fact that Mr Cornfoot was offering... she wanted to see her friend. But Terence was family, it was familiar and safe. The bathroom smelled like home, she had her own bed. Once Mr Cornfoot said that she could still visit Rose that was all she needed. The moment she had settled in she was going to find out if and when she could see her. Though as night began to fall and the sounds of the prison kept her awake, she was beginning to wonder if she was going to get "settled". She still believed Terence was coming, it was just getting so late, and the prospect of waiting for him till the next morning was terrifying (not that she would have ever admitted it). When the door wobbled and it was pulled back, the faint candlelight of the hallway was almost too much for her to bear. Her arm came up to cover her eyes and then the form of the person there was familiar and Silas nearly immediately jumped up. |
