"Never," he responded smugly, shooting her a wink because he knew it unnerved her. Or it seemed to all the other times he did it. If she thought he hadn't noticed the looks or the blushing than she was sorely mistaken. Luckily for her, he wasn't one to embarrass her out of spite. Now, embarrassing her to watch her continue to blush was another matter.
He didn't mind Eleanor, in fact she was turning out to be better company than he had thought. Still, she had to get over this being proper all the time nonsense. There was a time and a place and his house was not it. It's safer. Well, if that wasn't sobering than nothing else would be.
He had to turn from her to hide his annoyance. Safer? From what? From him? He knew it was silly to be annoyed but it was a sensitive spot for him. His father was a rapist, his father took advantage of people but that wasn't him. Finally he turned, looking at her intently as he walked forward, inches from her face. "Safer? From what," he asked slowly, leaning closer and closer to her. "No one will take advantage of you...lighten up." He gave her a quick kiss on the forehead before going back to cooking.
"Well, you'll just have to plan the next one. Feel free to use this place, just don't break anything."
