When Bole chuckled, Hannah tensed slightly, bracing herself for another argument. She relaxed when she realized that a lecture wasn't forthcoming, and even straightened a bit when he complimented her for sticking up for family. As he said she could have been smarter, she actually smirked. "Well we Hufflepuffs aren't famed for our intelligence," she reminded him. It wasn't really a snide comment, though she did seem to be making some sort of comment on his pronounced dislike for her Hogwarts house.
She sobered when he cautioned her to act like she was accepting of her situation. "I will," she told him with a nod. "Believe me, the last thing I want is to come under scrutiny by the Inner Circle." The thought was enough to make her shiver, even in the warmth of the day.
"And I know this isn't your idea," she added. Her expression softened into something that would have been sympathy if she'd been looking at anyone else. "And I'll try to be... more understanding. I don't think either of us made a good first impression." She's speaking mostly of him making a poor impression, but she doesn't come right out and say it.
"So... can we call it a truce?" she asked, looking a little hopeful.
