Oh. That's right. Sometimes it was easy for Daphne to forget the 'lie' that Tracey kept up all during school. It was second nature and it mattered so little, but it was important to her. And they certainly had enough bigoted friends that Daphne couldn't say she was wrong when she did finally find out. "Still, it's...it's not like she took up arms or even did anything questionable."
At the mention of her own father, she shook her head. "I don't believe my father did what he did...he, I mean...." She shook her head. "Maybe it was wrong, but I bet I would still have been drafted into whatever this is...and really, an arranged marriage? I think my parents would have allowed me the choice, expected it. But could I have chosen better even for myself?" She shrugged with a coy smile, "Mrs. Draco Malfoy."
When Alex fessed up to the truth, she shifted beneath his arm and looked at him. "Are you serious?" She blinked and smiled at Tracey, "What did I tell you? Rack him and show him who's boss," she grinned. Then with a smile, she patted him on his chest. "Oh, I bet we know just how to keep a bloke like you happy." She turned to face him, "You in particular."
