Verity looked at him, helpless. "You can't just tell me something like this and leave. What am I supposed to do? How do I-" she stopped herself, realizing she was heading toward hysterical and she didn't need to be any weaker than she'd already been around him. He didn't owe her anything, he could come in and tell her Uncle Alfie was dead and walk right back out. He was still a Death Eater. She nodded, swallowing thickly. "Yeah, right." At the offer of a teddy bear she looked at him like he was crazy but somehow found herself nodding her head. What the hell had gotten into her?
His shock sent a clear message- she'd over stepped a line. "N-nevermind," she whispered. The desire to touch someone was strong but she didn't want to be any less normal than she already was. She watched as he made the cigarette, surprised that it could even be transfigured like that. Reaching out she took it gently, her finger tips brushing his palm but nothing out of the ordinary. "Do you mind lighting it?" she asked quietly, holding it to her lips. The idea of asking a Death Eater to put a lighted wand to her face seemed insane but she really wanted that smoke. It had been so long and she was more stressed than she could remember being in a long time.
