Simply listening, Steve thought about how to approach the subject. She seemed fond of being an actress, even if she were modest. With a sigh, Steve leaned his head back against the wall and looked up. "It wasn't normal weight gain," he replied. It was nice to know Verity was at least cared for. Not that she'd wanted it or asked for it. "I never asked, I guess I didn't want to, in case the answer was something different than I expected." Turning his head, Steve looked at Verity. She was helpless in a cruel situation, and he hated himself for being part of what put her there. Michael was right - he deserved to die.
"Verity... There's really not a gentle way... Verity, you were pregnant." There, he said it. She could chose to deny it, she could choose to ask questions, or she could choose to throw him out. Any of those options would be fine, but he needed to tell her.
