In the darkness she could pretend it was them getting married to each other and not to some strangers. She drew a cross on his skin, Protect him. Then she drew a heart next to it.
"I love you," she said softly, it was little more than a whisper, yet it hung there, clear as the moon. They'd never said it before. Certainly not when they were together, but it was just something she needed to tell him at that moment. She hoped he wouldn't freak out.
