I know I complained about Florida in the past, but I humbly admit that I've had a change of heart. It's actually rather lovely this time of year. Normally holidays aren't sentimental pap I indulge in, but this year I think I'm going to try to spend the holiday with someone.

Lindsay, this would be you.

And anyone else who wants to get together with a vigilante and his mortician fiancee.

Hey, Linds, any news on the job front? I just wanted to know where I should look for a new apartment.

Not moping feels pretty good.

You know, Miami's actually beautiful with the right company.

Can someone explain to me just what the hairy heck that thing was? I think I bruised my ass.

In fairy tales or folk legends, knights always go off on these sprawling epic adventures and quests, and nobody gives a shit what happens to them in the end. They finish and go home and the story wraps, or they die. If they go home, we never know what happens to them.

I'm not saying I'm a knight or a hero. I'm just saying at the end of a lifelong quest? You get bored and you drink a lot and you start to wonder if it was worth it at all. Then you just take a nap.

Wouldn't make for very good endings to epic poems. Better to leave Ulysses sailing off and leaving his son in charge.

You know, it's a sad state of affairs when London and New York are showing up Miami in terms of insanity.

Come on, guys. Leave the crazy to we heatstroked and underdressed senior citizens.

Given the gravity and confusing nature of our current situation, fellow refugees, drinks are called for.

We should flood the bars en masse.

My twin brother's been incapacitated for the time being, complaining that a broken thumb's a perfectly good reason to skip out on work, but not on bars.

Sissy.

... at least I managed to stay on my preferred team. No offense to the other side, but I like the way I bat. It works for me.

I can't stop thinking about you. You're... funny, and kind, and sincere in a way that most of humankind will never get to experience. Your beauty is so deeply internalized that your external beauty almost mocks all of the lesser people just by being there. I feel lucky to know you. So how could I not love you?

Angela Rogan, will you marry me?

It's not one of my clear-cut goals to become an alcoholic, however, life seems to be conspiring to make it so. Who am I to argue with destiny?

Ruby, would you like to go get another drink?

Whenever I find myself in the situation that I'm currently in - and I don't really want to elucidate, thanks - I find that pouring at least a liter of vodka into myself really helps.

Anybody want to help me? Well. Not so much with the drinking. I can lift a glass. But figured I'd put it out there, in case anyone wanted to drink with me.

Now I'm a PI, in a place called Arkham. I've got a ton of notes, as well as a big book of all of the witch hunter's notes. Apparently I'm related to the guy I was yesterday.

And this guy? Has a meeting scheduled with a guy in a place called Innsmouth. About a cult.

...I think this guy is stupid. He's walking into a clear trap with a total of one gun. If I don't show up, they'll probably assume I alerted the authorities and kill me, and if I do show up? They kill me.

Unless I bring backup. Anybody want to go on a field trip to this place? It's...probably going to be dangerous. There may be cultists and monsters.

And if you do come with, for the love of god, stay away from the beaches in this place. This is important.

I need some new clothes. What I've got just isn't cutting it. Makes me feel like I'm still a prisoner or mental patient.

So what is there to do in Miami for a guy with no responsibilities and some money to blow?

Miami is actually very weird; it's like the temperature directly influences everyone's libidos. And I do mean everyone - I've seen enough frisky senior citizens to inspire thousands of terrifying Grandmas Gone Wild videos.

Though I generally try not to notice. I'm essentially laying low, just hanging out and working. I'm sort of adjusting to living a "normal" life. If one can be had in Florida, the state that most represents the object it metaphorically is.

I'm actually not very good at being a police detective, which is somewhat interesting considering my history with them.

But that's another story.

Does anyone want to hire a big gangly guy with heart of gold for possible guarding of bodies? Preferably live ones.

This is what happens when you download too much porn. You end up in another dimension where Cuddy owns her own hospital? This is God laughing at me right? Note to self: Midget porn = another dimension.

According to a buddy of mine on the force - who, until very recently, I had no idea was a buddy, but I suppose that's a hazard of replacing someone who previously had a life and therefore a social network - homicides are down 75% this week from last year.

I chalk it up to men being ashamed of their newfound vaginas. Either that, or they're busy solving the feminine mystique. Personally, I'm glad that my body hasn't decided to defect to the other genetic team.

The hospital should be ready for all of us doctors to move back in on Monday.

I'm very glad I'm not a man. Thank you.

To the best of my recollection, I haven't been knocked out or slipped any drugs.

And yet I've woken up in an apartment that's not mine, with a detective's badge in my pocket, after seeing what looked like a tornado.

This promises to be a good start to the week.
