PART I:
Who: Katya & Atton (Narrative, closed)
What: Wedding.
Where: A small park on the outskirts of London.
When: Today-ish.
Warnings: Nah. Cute overload, maybe.
She was glad she'd gone for greenery. She didn't really understand this planet's religion, and she certainly didn't follow it. She'd checked and they could sign the legal papers after having a ceremony of their own, so she'd had someone bring them here and they could take care of all that after the official (preacher? officer? Who knew?) said what he had to say.
She was wearing the pretty white dress Navi had helped her pick out, with a veil of netting pinned over her hair. Atton was in a three piece suit and sickeningly handsome. She murmured under her breath, "You look like a galactic dignitary," and watched him fight not to grumble.
It was a small gathering; only her and Atton's friends and they didn't have many. Still, the little park was full enough, with the trees surrounding them and hiding the party from the road. Katya could just feel everything. The wind in her veil. Her arm through Atton's. The pinpricks of tears she hadn't expected.
She almost missed the question when the most important part came. "Do you take Atton to be your husband?"
She swore in Huttese under her breath - way to space out! - and had to smile when Atton bit his lip hard. Laugh at me later, nerf herder, she teased in his head before speaking aloud. "I do."
Aw, but it's fun to multitask, he murmured before being asked his end of the question. "I do."
And that was that. No more Katya Kurn, exiled Jedi, freedom fighter, tightly strung Jedi master and chief mourner of one Atton Rand. They signed the forms, laughed and drank the champagne, and ate the cake (Atton had apparently been reading up on this planet's customs; she'd have to wash her hair back at the shop before they left on their honeymoon!). They were packed, as far as she knew.
She was rather looking forward to signing the hotel register. Katya Rand. Free and easy.
________
To all those who were there, all oh ... ten of you? ... Thank you for coming. It was so nice to have friends there ... and Navi, I swear I could hear you sniffling. Silly.
I ... just really couldn't be happier.
