I rather detest having to do things so dramatically. You people need to look past the bloody obvious.
You're the ones who would consider an impressionist's art not but a bunch of daubs of color, and not the beautiful landscapes that they truly are.
Pitiful, miserable, thickheaded men.

No artist is truly appreciated until much later.

And you're the one to lecture me about it?

It's been long enough.

Simply stating facts, Mister Todd.

There are some who appreciate you already. It's small comfort, but it's something.

Why do I even bother with this town?

I know, Calliope. I know.

Go on holiday. See the sun before it sets for you again.

I don't fear the dusk.

I feel that a holiday is something that I cannot afford at this point. There's more to do. My friends are restless.

Please avoid incapacitation. I don't have any of my political contacts any longer, and I'd hate to make a scene helping you out of prison.

Would rather die first. Think I might.

My dearest has the capacity to resurrect me should I come into any harm or death. There's no chance of them taking me in. They think me simpleminded, the fools. Came to question me, they did. Little bobbies on their high horses with worry that I might slash their throats as well -- I feigned illness and sent them off with no reason to suspect I had anything to do with their investigation. I'm likely not going to do much the rest of this year, nothing as flagrant as I have, certainly. Though should our dear friend, our New York clown come to try anything with any of my contacts and acquaintances, he'll be the next under my blade. I appreciate the man's work, but I'm sick of his folly already.

I'm well aware of taking precaution in this day and age. They might as well think what they will about me. Business, oddly enough, has never been better. I don't think the novelty shall ever wear off of seeing so many morbid people come to my shop just to have their hair cut by a man who they know is a killer.

You've certainly made yourself a powerful ally. And the Joker is ... well, he reminds me of myself as a girl. Unfocused. I had tutelage, however, and now I'm - well, I suppose you could say I'm a long distance runner as opposed to sprinters such as yourself. To be honest, I'm reveling in the clown. Nobody's so much as batted an eyelash at anything I've done lately. It's quite liberating.

I'm glad your business is thriving, though I'm sad they don't appreciate your skill.

Indeed, he's a good man to keep on my side of the fence. Should he cross a line, however... And frankly, I'm sure the same condition applies to me in his eyes.

I believe that the only ones who DO appreciate it are the ones who come in. Had a few Americans show up today. Came all this way to London to simply admire my work and abilities. Dark-dressed and dower, but all the more adoring of my work. They were young. No older than my daughter was when I died, I don't think.

I often wonder how she lived her life once Turpin was gone and I was dead. I never did get to see her.

I'm fairly certain that goes for all people in our line of work. It makes for rather uncomfortable alliances.

Well, that's fortunate. Perhaps I'll portkey in someday and let you cut my hair. I haven't had it done in... oh, years.

I'm sorry. I have no family except for my father, and I want to see him for entirely different reasons.

There's no such thing as a comfortable alliance in these days, Miss.

I would adore the chance. You've got such lovely hair to work with, I don't think I'd do much at all to change it.

I don't think I'd like to see her, if I were to tell the truth. Her father is dead, and all that's left is the darkness he locked away. It
is not exactly the best influence I'd want bestowed upon my daughter.

Oh, I don't know about that. I'm an admirer of yours. Technically, you could tell everyone what I am and what I do, couldn't you? Yet I trust you won't.

The secret? Blood promotes hair growth. My previous employer thought it a bit mad, but I'm convinced.

You're already a better father than mine ever was.

No, I don't think I would. What good is it to do such a thing when you've done nothing to make me fall out of trust?

Ah, that's something I often thought about. I'll have to look into it.

And should you, and could you ever have a child, I'm sure you'd make an excellent mother. Perhaps not so much the business side of things. Not until later, at least. But you've got a warmth to you that flickers on and off, something that I could see blossoming in time, should you choose to nurture the flame.

Precisely. I used to be mad - all right, I still am - but nowadays I'm a businesswoman on top of things. I can't compromise my end goal for momentary pleasure. I'd like to think you understand.

It's worked for me for a couple hundred years.

I'm sure I've left a few children about here and there, though I've never stayed to see. ... I doubt they'd agree with you.

Business always before pleasure.

And now if you'll excuse me, my dear, business calls. I have been putting off making calls to certain people. I've been wanting to show people the clever chair I'd built, but not to full scale. No room for it.

Thank you, Mr. Crowley. Though it's come to be expected from me that those of you do appreciate my work. Not that it doesn't detract from your appreciation, or how grateful I am for it. I just assume the ones from Hell do take fancy in it.

How are things at your nightclub?

Word on the street is, I'm not considered much of a citizen of Hell, anymore. Part of the reason I was looking to speak with you, actually.

And there is the other. Things have become rather... boring, I dare say.

Crowley is fine, dear boy. And I'm not so sure about cashing in on that particular similarity- I would hate to take away from your own personal fame.

However, humans have always been applauded in our circles, for having much more imagination in these sorts of things, than demons. I suppose I'm looking to relearn your particular trade, so to speak. I've been told I need to help create the chaos, going in the world right now. I'm simply looking to figure out how to start.

Well, then. If you should need help in brainstorming, I've got all of Sunday. Should you feel the need to discuss this, I'll need a while to think on some things that I personally wouldn't be able to do, but what a demon could pull off wondrously.

My door's open to you at any time.

Being slighted in the press is a problem in some lines of work. Rather a pity that the truly talented never seem to get their due. What is it you do, sir, to have such a rival?
