We're fishing off of rooftops. We have invisible strings baited with bats screaming very very quietly.

We're good at guessing, yes, we could guess ourselves into the mouth of a whale, but we won't, no we won't, because the game's so much more fun when you play it.

We have detective hats! And if you do a little dance, you can have a hat, too!

And by any chance have you been keeping an eye out on the one with red eyes, my friends?

One. Occasionally four. Sometimes three. Every so often two, but never matching. Sometimes matching. If one of us gets bored. And SOMEONE'S got to watch the scrolling text in case it says anything IMPORTANT.

Oh.

But.

IT'S A SECRET so don't tell anybody.

We're really just

fishing.

Fishing's a good hobby.

I'm hoping the two of you stay alert, lest you tip the boat and be thrown to the sharks.

Oh, but we can walk on water, didn't you know?

Heaven and its angels must be impressed, but I'm not, and nor will be the devils if they catch you.

Ah, you misunderstand, my dear fellow... heaven has never fancied us and its angels look the other way. We are mere curiousities. We're not actually even very good at what we do, we're just unexpected. We know the dangers; we'd just rather sing rhymes of madness than cower in the corners.

...but we really can walk on water. Literally. It's rather fun.

Interesting, usually when people say that it's a riddle. But you yourselves are the riddle, and that's very much more interesting. Better to face the darkness and shine light upon it than cower within it and hope for the best.

I've been known to conjure a storm or two. Not that I'm bragging, of course.

Real ones?

We know a god who's fond of those. Best be cautious, old chap, or you're liable to find yourself clucking like a chicken and licking the walls.

Aye.

Oh, I've met worse. Knew Calypso. She's a treat.

Sweet Calypso, the melody in the ripples, the echo in the blood... We've not had the pleasure, but we've courted her territory like teenagers sneaking in the night.

Gods are rarely worth the effort of playing with.

No, they certainly aren't.

Rarely good bedmates, neither.

Oh, my friend... as to THAT, I dare say you've been courting the wrong gods.

I prefer one bedmate and one alone, though I'm no fool to deny a god or goddess their pleasures.

Ah... a lover, not a sportsman? We encountered... difficulty... trying to keep ourselves to one alone.

Being that the two of you seem to be as inseparable as my love and myself, I'd certainly assume that it would be hard to find a lady.

Hard to find a woman who'd go in for that.

It's a touch more complex that taste alone, actually. There's this business about a prophesy and... well, it's not something we'd rather revisit.

Aye, wouldn't want any destinies to be fulfilled around here.

Had about enough of those in my own bloodline to be more than enough for one eternity.

We'd rather hoped we'd broken it, but one never knows.

We're lucky enough to come otherwise significant-ancestor-free.

I'm guessing that this world's fairly consequence and prophecy-free place. At least from what I've been noticing.

Aren't you the lucky pair.

Prophesies have a way of chasing one at times -- but considering the title of Dragonborn in this world holds no more weight than that of Mailclerk, we feel fairly safe.

Less than mailclerk, since I know what one is, and the other's a mystery to me.

Exactly!

We're banking on the hope that fate would rather find its favored sons somewhere they can be some use to the world.

Always a good option. And if the Fates declare destiny upon one of my descendants in this world, I'll be rather peeved.

Ahh. The fates have found you out, then.

Well, if you should ever happen to observe some trick to keeping one's line potentially safe, do pass it on. I have a small... unintentional liability to consider.

Will do, sirs.

Have a nice evening. I've a blind Sire to attend to. Poor man ran himself into a wall again.
