Oh, how I love this timeline. Let me count the ways.

Hand held chain guns. Assault rifles equip with laser sights. Light submachine guns. Plasma launchers. Plasma. Launchers.

I. Am. In. Love.

They still have the wrist mounted plasma launchers? Man, those are so useful. Low-cut top, and the boy completely ignores the huge fucking gun on your wrist.

Not that that would work for you.

Still? I only dream about these things. Never saw them in reality.

Likely would not work on me, either.

Where I'm from, plasma technology's all over.

Well, if you had a bounty on you - not saying you do - there's lots of ways to knock out a guy.

It is? Can I go home with you?

When working in that particular trade, one must do what one can. Madame, is a bounty hunter?

Oh, yeah. We've got plasma grenade all over. They're only 500 or so credits each at this one shop by my apartment.

I was before I got here. Don't know what I am now, what with these "replacement" issues. Probably'll go right back into it.

Is your home world a completely different timeline, or someplace different altogether?

Ah, I see. Quite understandable, I have yet to figure out who or what I am here, as well. I likely will remain who I was.

Do you not wish to escape the trade for a quieter lifestyle?

I have no idea. Yesterday was a lot more like what I'm used to, just without the robot dinosaur things.

I was born in a war, I served in a war, then I was a bounty hunter. If I had a quieter lifestyle, I'd go nuts.

This is the only change I am not familiar with.

We have that in common, served in wars. I was enjoying a quieter lifestyle of retirement, and then this happens. I could find the joke in it somewhere, alas, I am hard pressed to find it.

I didn't really have a choice. When the invading force kills your family and adopts you to carry bombs and ammo, you have to do it. Then when another invading force kills those people, well.

Bounty hunting's damn near relaxing.

But this time switching thing's pissing me off. I don't know what to do, and when I can't think strategy, I can't think period.

If it is unpleasant to discuss the past, the subject can be dropped.

Sometimes, some situations do not require thinking. Simply reacting and feeling is all that is required.

What does Madame do with her time here, now?

The past just is. We can discuss it or not. It's not unpleasant, it's just there.

I only just got here. Right now, I just try to figure out what year it is (and your dating system is ridiculous) and blend in.

I pulverized a dinosaur with my sidearm.

Too bad it won't come with me.

If I could find a way to smuggle one of these babies out, I would. Alas, I think a few will be seeing a grown man cry at the loss.

Plasma launchers?

Plasma launchers?!

Oh god, they would've helped so much...

When time changed, my girlfriend and I were in a mining colony. That was being swarmed by a huge horde of insectoid aliens controlled by a hivemind. They can infest people. Saw it happen to a couple of guys. Not pretty.

It has been my experience, 'hordes' are never pleasant to deal with.

Did you and your girlfriend both escape?

Yeah, hordes are bad unless this is World of Warcraft.

We did. It was pretty close, but we got as many people out of the colony as we could.

Would you say you had a successful win?

We had to abandon the colony, but I'd say we won. About seventy percent of the people there made it to the ship. That's the important thing to me.
