Seeking general advice for a friend.

If this person has done something intolerably stupid, but wants to see what the results of said stupid gambit might be, how long can ~~she~~ they wait before pressing the issue? Or should they just accept their stupidity and move on?

I would just very much not like to lose him completely, thus I'm curious as to whether I should suck it up and discuss it with him.
