I'm no expert on Jedi history, but based on what I've heard and some research (thanks to the movies and books based on our galaxy), I think things were a lot less strict back home after the Jedi were pretty much wiped out by Vader and the Emperor. A new Order, sorta, was started from scratch. There's not even really a Jedi Council here. There's just a handful of Jedi. Master Qui-Gon asked them to vote on whether I could officially train as a Padawan or not.
Look, if the Jedi frowned on intra-Jedi relationships, they'd frown on any relationship period, right? I'm with someone right now, and he's not a Jedi. I wouldn't have agreed to become a padawan if I had to give up Jamie. My Master's old school, but he's a forward thinker and he sees no problem with me being with someone. I think the important thing is knowing that you have to... put the Force first. Put being a Jedi first. You know? That going dark to try to save that one person you love isn't worth it, cause you'll hurt them more by going dark than anything else that may happen.
Whether dying for someone is worth it is up to you, but it seems pretty Jedi-like to me. It sounds like you care about her a lot.
...Obviously, I think about this stuff a lot. I worry about getting angry if something happened to somebody I really cared about. Jedi's only a recent lifestyle for me.
