Bella Donna Boudreaux loves cooking and murder ([info]poisonwine) wrote in [info]undertherainbow,

From the bayous of New Orleans, to the streets of Seattle, not much changes. Still damp all the time, still dark and musty smelling, still surrounded by people.

I think I like it better here, though. Don't have to hide as much, and for once, I'm really free. Or as free as anyone ever can be.

I think that I'm getting better. Of course, having people who won't let me feel sorry for myself helps a bit. And the changes I've gone through are pretty visible. Maybe I'm going to be alright after all.

Ishtar: I've read about you, and I have a proposition for you, if you'll listen?

Really? Speak on. I am willing to listen.

I run a rather. . .violent group of hookers in Seattle. I've told a couple of them about you, and they seem to be pretty interested in hearing more about you. Would you mind sharing a few of your stories? I would rather give them something to cling to, some higher power to believe in than try and bring a group of nihilists together if there's ever a need to organize.

Also. . .do you have a temple?

Truly? Well, then I would be most interested in sharing.

My main temple is in India, but I am always open to spreading the care for others, and can send someone to open a chapel if it is wanted.

That would be wonderful. I worry about the ones who have nothing and no one. Some are much worse off than me, and I don't know how they continue to live.

India is an interesting place, but I doubt Americans are very welcome anywhere in the Middle East at the moment.

My temple has a way of reaching out. Once a chapel is erected somewhere, travel from it to here is instantaneous.

Right. So no proper building, then? I mean, beside the main one?

No, the chapel has to be in a building, and it is a dedicated site, where a worship point is created, and thus teleportation between sites is enabled.

And I can come there now, if you like. Enough worhsipping is being done that it draws me like a star.

Oh! I see. That would be. . .I think the girls would like that. As would I.

Thank you.

When would you like me to come.

It is always nice to have an audience.

Friday evenings tend to be a little slow, since the businessmen usually spend the night with their wives. So, tonight, if you're able.

Very well. I will be there, shortly, and bring a priestess so she can set up a chapel if you want one.

How are you doing, love? I may have to come visit you in this...Seattle. I've not been, after all.

I'm doing better. Kinda fell into the same place I was at when I left home, but honestly, that might be what I need at the moment.

You should definitely come! I'll, uh, tell the ladies you're taken.

"The Ladies"?

It's a long story. 'Ladies' is, however, not the correct term for them.

I wouldn't use those exact words around them, but yeah.

What do they call them now a days? Used to call them wenches and they didn't care.

Generally they're called whores, but most of the women that didn't come from another universe seem to prefer 'sex worker', if they're not too strung out on whatever gets them through the day to care.

Good to know. I'll keep it in mind.

You know, when I first arrived here I asked for directions from a male 'sex worker' dressed as a woman.

It was a confusing day.

We got a few of those, too.

It always annoys me when they have better nails than me. I can't keep fake nails to save my life.

Fake nails are over rated and make it more difficult to handle a sword, I'd think. You're better off without them.

Yeah, but they're pretty.

And you can sharpen them for 'unarmed' fights.

Though, with my luck, I'd scratch myself on accident more than anybody else on purpose.

Well, I suppose there is that. I never think that way...

Yes. I'd worry about scratching myself or a loved one. Athos wouldn't appreciate deep gashes in his shoulders, I'm sure.

Luckily, I've only got myself to worry about.

Well, beside the girls, I guess, but they can pretty much take care of themselves.

But at least you have them. And me =D

That's okay, really. I've never been alone before. It could be alright.

And yes. I have them. And you. Who else could I need? :D
