BETHANY: A little birdie told me you wanted to talk to me? What's going on, kitten?

PENELOPE: I need your help. I've decided that since you people make goals at the turning of the new year, I'm going to make cooking one of mine. Can you start me off small? I know in theory this is mad, but the thought of the look on Aaron's face if I manage to make a big fancy dinner using all these machines is worth the work.

AARON: How's the work-load looking this week, darling? I wanted to take you somewhere. I was playing a poker tournament in a country called Fiji and I've never seen water so blue.

Oh thank the Maker! This is incredibly awkward, since in your world I wasn't sure I'd actually met you or not. It's really rather awkward if you ask me.

At any rate, I am in dire need of your advice, and I hope you won't find it awkward or insulting or stupid and I am really babbling, aren't I?

Yes, I knew you; it's your brother I've never met. My world would have been very odd by your standards, maybe - Hawke was a warrior, in love with Fenris. Very odd, since I've met this Hawke. Being a mage suits her a bit better, I think. Much more ... fiery.

Don't worry about anything; it amuses me that a Hawke needs my advice about anything. Is something wrong?

Actually, that is almost exactly mine. Did I get carted off to the Wardens?

Funnily enough, it's about Fenris. I'm just hopeless, Isabela. You were always so kind to me and I just don't know what to do! How do you even go about things like this?

I'm sure Marian's answer would involve a club and head trauma of some sort.

Hm. This Hawke looked at me as though I'd sprouted wings when I said she'd been in love with Fenris.

... oh, dear, you fancy broody Fenris? Well, that's ... interesting.

You have to admit, he's an unusual choice. Despite the voice. And the eyes. And the legs.

Okay, he's maybe just grumpy. What do you need my help with, dear?

Maker, that voice.

I don't know how to do this, Isabela. Any of it. The Wardens don't exactly give flirting tips and I'm so unsure how to approach him.

Don't hit me, but I've had him, and even if you're a mage, I think he likes it when you know what you want. He's not a weak person and he doesn't like weak. Just ... a little honesty goes a long way. He wants everyone to be honest with him, or at least he thinks he does.

The temptation to ask all sorts of questions now is intense, but I'll let it pass for now.

I suppose I'm just afraid I've lost a lot of my appeal, if I ever had any. The Wardens don't make a great finishing school. And I'm afraid if I just outright say 'I have a fancy for you' he'd laugh in my face.

But you've never steered me wrong yet. And no, that was not a pun about a ship, but on hang it, now I'm babbling again.

You've got two choices, kitten. Stay quiet and pine, or take a risk and have it maybe pay off. If you don't get what you want, at least you know. I'd think it worse to forever be sitting there wondering.

Done. We ought to go back to our favourite shop; apparently I am off to Fiji at some point with the husband. I'll need things.

People have started calling me 'madam' or things like that. I may have a fifteen year old, but I don't think I look it.

It simply means you're married. Even child brides are technically 'madam'.

Only time most people call me madam is when the city guard had seen me commit an act which I only do outside your jurisdiction here.

That has nothing to do with age, that's just formality.
