So, I've, uh, got a job. Just a part-time one, working at an animal shelter. They can only pay me for one day a week, but I agreed to volunteer on some of the other days. I still don't like the cages, but at least they're getting cared for. And they need help, and I can help keep them healthy, so that's good.

	Last unexpected dragon moment was just under a month ago, I think? And that one didn't even progress to full dragon, got stopped before things went too wrong. You're probably right. I'm not sure I believe her about the hating him part. She seems to hate a lot of people, but that doesn't mean she treats them weird. ...assuming that the constant death threats are normal, I mean.

Just the maple trees, maybe. They're vindictive. I don't see why you shouldn't call yourself Dalish. Merrill's your mother, after all, and you can speak the language and know the history. Arguably that makes you more elvhen than me, even if my ears are pointier. But, there's just no reasoning with some trees, I guess!

Have you got other ones, or are they all about evil trees?

	I do like animals, very much, and I like learning about them. I still haven't been to a zoo, actually. I should change that. 	Oh, it's nicer than animal shelters (at least, that sounds like where you're working). The animals can move around a lot more and they have friends. It's a bit like they have apartments with maids and things like that. Yeah, they're called vets! There's whole schools to become one, but I'm sure you can do it if you really want to. It is quiet. I was wondering...I was talking to a boy, who like us came from somewhere where he was involved in a sort of war, and he's relieved to be out of it but isn't sure how to fill the hole that it's left. Has that happened to you, here? Neither one of us has been sure what to do with our sudden lack of direction.

I mean, I can't say I miss being chased, but...it's still pretty strange. I like the peace, very much, but it's surprisingly hard to get used to.

That's a good way to put it, that peace is hard to get used to. Charles has been incredibly grounding for me. I'm rather used to being rootless, just packing up and moving when something changes or I don't like a situation, but that's difficult when the whole world is different than I'm used to.

It doesn't help, really, that the life I fell into doesn't have a job attached to it. Perhaps I should find some cause to support.
