You know what? Life is good. Life is really, really good. And I'm not just saying that because I've learned about fondue. I have got to try this someday. An entire meal based around dipping things into cheese mixed with beer. Clearly, there is a Maker, and he likes me.

Aveline
Soooooooo did you have any plans for tomorrow night? If so, do they involve me, and if not, would you consider making some that involve me?

Just don't get too excited and start mixing cheese with everything you like. Cheese and pizza are awesome, but cheese and coffee? Probably not a good idea.

It's true, they're two of my favorite things, but they just wouldn't mix. It's tragic, really.

...though maybe if you mixed the *right* cheese...we put milk in coffee, and cheese is another form of milk, right? Maybe there's one out there that would work...

I don't know if this is really a good quest for you to undertake..

Probably not, but at least I don't have to worry about getting flayed alive with this one.

Oh, oh, make sure you take your girlfriend out for fried mozerella sticks. Fried cheese!

Also, well done you, she's gorgeous.

Pretty sure she's had those. I certainly have. ...blight it, now I'm hungry, there's got to be a Dennys around here somewhere...

Isn't she though? Just, wow.

How're you and your fellow doing, anyway?

Oh, good, I'm glad, they're my favorite part of the Delicious Cheese food group. But mmm, pancakes.

Were I single, I'd have likely chatted her up myself.

Ezio and I? We're fine, really good, actually.

That's it, I'm hungry and it's your fault, and therefore you're going to meet me at Dennys in half an hour and buy me mozerella sticks. If you're nice I'll buy you pancakes in return.

...so many terrible responses leaping to mind that I can't pick one...

Dani
Good to know. But what's all this about Templars? Should I keep the ex-almost-Templar thing quiet around him and this other new guy? I take it it's a different sort of Templar order anyway.

Oh, I suppose I could be persuaded.

They're probably all correct!

Alistair
Oh, cock. I didn't even think of that. Yeah, the Templar order from where Ezio and Altair are from wanted to control everyone's choices and take away free will. Don't worry, I'll explain things to Ezio, and Altair eventually. Thedan templars are really different from how I understand them.

Think of the pancakes, Dani. Covered in butter and maple syrup. There could even be bacon.

Honestly I'm not sure if the idea is terrifying, depressing, vaugely attractive, or just plain weird.

Dani
Yeah, if you could do that, it might be a good idea. Don't want him to get the wrong idea. Though that description's...aaaaaahh, it's complicated. And I never even really was one, just trained. Nevermind.

What do you mean "could" be bacon? Alistair, in my family, bacon is the way we express affection. I know my father loves me because he shares bacon with me. More families should.

Yes?

Alistair
I will, and ... yeah, you're not a templar in the way the ones he fought are. Those templars were douchekabobs. You're not.

Giving bacon is a way of expressing affection? Blight it, I've probably proposed to half a dozen people without even realizing it in that case. Whoops!

Stop that.

Dani
I'll just take your word for it.

In my family it is. We're a strange lot, though. My big brother took his now-wife out for chocolate covered bacon on their first date.

Stop what? I'm not doing anything!

Alstair
You fought to protect people from how I understand it, not to control them. Besides, you're not one anyway. Ezio's just ... used to them trying to kill him. A lot.

Chocolate covered bacon? I have to try this. You introduce me to all the best food. Except the fake nacho cheese. You'll never sell me on that stuff.

Dani
Control, no, but...nevermind, complicated, another time and another place. And funny that, I'm used to assassins trying to kill me. Wish your group had another name.

Fake nacho cheese has its place! It's a situational cheese!

Alistair
I know what you meant; protection is in and of itself a sort of control. No, these templars want control of freedom - beyond safety, beyond reason. Nobody's going to try to kill you. If they do, they and I will have words. Pointy ones.

...all right, I might give you that. But this Velveeta stuff should still be a crime.

Dani
Appreciated, thanks. Still, probably best to keep your boyfriend and me away from each other. Don't think he wants to kill me but we didn't exactly hit it off on the right foot, to put it mildly. Does he threaten everybody he talks to or did I get special treatment?

I love Velveeta, you just haven't seen it used properly yet.

Alistair
Oh, you know you're special, dear. Just kidding. Honestly, I think it's more due to the big bad T word. If you'd all been called Fuzzy Bears, he'd have just laughed and ignored you.

"Used it properly"? Do I want to know what it's supposed to be used for?

Dani
If we'd been called Fuzzy Bears, I would've laughed. Probably would've been good for the knights, too.

Anyway, I figured, so I tried not to take offense. Still. Grr, or something. I figured you wouldn't want us getting into some macho guy fight thing, but I hope I get points for self-restraint.

If you dump salsa in it and then melt it, it's fabulous with those tortilla crisp things.

Alistair
I think the mages would've been less scared of you. Lulled 'em into a false sense of security.

Yes, grr and other various growly things. You do get points, but even if you do get into a macho guy fight thing, I'll break it up and box your ears so you won't hear anything for a week.

But real cheese would work just as well and be even tastier in those circumstances! With guacomole. Lots of guacomole. ...blight, now I'm hungry.

Dani
That might have been the real motivation! You've got a mean right hook, I've seen it in action and I don't want to be introduced to it personally.

Real cheese doesn't melt as creamy. I ususally use half Velveeta, half cheddar to sort of get the consistancy right. I'm a fake cheese snob.

Alistair
Awww! That's so sweet!

What can I say, I respect women who can punch properly. Not least because if I don't, they might choose to punch me, and I prefer my eyes unblackened.
