Shana Tova

It's been a while since I've felt it would be, but this one will.

It's nice to hear you be optimistic. I don't hear enough of it. Shana Tova.

To be honest, I didn't know I was entirely capable. Seems like I am, a little.

I like it.

I thought you might. I'm making dinner, can't promise that it's going to be up to par like it should be, but neither of us will be left wanting.

You never leave me wanting.

I didn't suspect so.

Now we'll just have to see if I remember the right blessing.

You, you are getting a box of honey cakes. You may have gotten them already.

What did I do? You two did all of the hard work already, I simply reminded you it had already been completed.

... but I won't ever turn down cakes!

Because sometimes I we both need reminders like that. And besides that, honey cakes are tradition, or honey and apples, but I wasn't sure if you liked apples.

I'm fond of all food. Eating is the most visceral way I can think of to remind myself I'm alive. Well. The most visceral one I can do in public.

That's good to know. Next year you'll have apples.

Oh! Then happy new year--Shana Tova--to you also, Erik. Looks like it's starting off well, for you. I'm glad.

May yours be a healthy one.

They usually are! Handy side benefit of being a bit of a healer: being able to heal yourself.

Thank you.

I spent some time amongst Jews in the Middle East, in another lifetime. L'shana tovah to you, sir. May it be sweet.

Mine were German, almost a lifetime ago. But we're all the same in the new year. Gut yontiff and may it be a healthy one.

I'm not Jewish myself, but I am rather pregnant, so I'll accept that with thanks.

Sounds like a mazel tov is in order as well.

Erik Lensherr, don't believe I've had the pleasure.

Bela Talbot Winchester, and thank you. Another month or so and I'll be able to see my feet.

Second and third, actually. My girls are here, aged twenty-five, working, all that, but I'm also just about to have them. They've an elder brother as well.

Ah, I'd heard that there were people's children here as adults. Wasn't entirely sure how to wrap my mind around that, just chalked it up to one of the oddities of this place.

Oddity isn't quite the word; still, I've managed. They're rather nice to have around. They can baby sit, heh.

That does sound like it could come in useful.

I don't think I've been here long enough to get used to it, but I've been trying my best, because really it's either that or go live in a cave like some sort of hermit.
