Wealth does hold a hand in some ways to how a person is treated in my world, but not always. How a person uses their Jewels and caste determines the respect they receive. If a wealthy Red-Jeweled Warlord, who takes pleasure in being rude and spiteful, was trying to take over the lands of a less monetarily privileged Opal-Jeweled Prince who treated those who worked for him and with him with every respect they gave him-- well the wealthy man would lose more then he gained. Even if he gained the lands he desperately wanted, he would lose anyone that would work the lands for him or buy items from him because he's an ass.
It's not really bad, despite the snapping plants. It's just cold. And lonely. Besides, I think Anayah would have Arcerian kittens if I dared to stay in the Dark Realm and not at the Hall with her. Even if I wouldn't be able to fulfill the physical part of my Consort duties, I can still be there.
