Two.
Odd, that the royalty in the English family has such despicable style. I have found the telly a most fascinating interest and time to be had, though the Queen belittles herself by wearing such ridiculous hats, and by dressing herself in a most obscene yellow, as a runny egg has passed and solidified over her body.

My own family is not quite so vain, and I am grateful for that.

Zounds, how bizarre, how queer, how absurd.

I have been told that I speak like a Count, or more exactly, The Count from some odd-sounding show on the telly. And when I show that I truly do not understand what is meant, I am asked to count anything. "One street urchin, two street urchins," and then to laugh.

There is much in this world that baffles, and much more that makes no existent sense.

[ooc; i've been mega away and totally missed that Arthur replaced William, edited to fix that! \o]

I'm so sorry.

Isn't royalty always weird?

...I am offended.

Royalty of the English courts has always been a sham, nothing more.

I didn't do it, he's a beloved children's character, and he's just a pun.

Exactly. They were in my time, even.

I am compared to a character suited for children? There is nothing in this world I have found prior to this that is as insulting to the Order of Dracul as this. I have spent too much time adjusting to the scientific contrivances of everyday life, however. The machine that makes the delicious coffee, though with other ingredients, fascinates me to no end, and I spent far too long inspecting every aspect of it. Marvels of the modern world!

Alas, except for in your own country, you kind of got a raw deal. At least your people still (mostly) see you for what you are?

If I could drink coffee, I'm sure I'd care more, but I grew old right along with this world. I wasn't thrust into it.

Oh lord...

The Count is a character on a children's show: puppets entertaining little kids while attempting to teach them their letters and how to count.

But for toddlers, it's entertaining.

And compared to most kids shows for that age group, it's actually tolerable.

Speaking as a mother to a hyperactive two year old.

Before, wars were brutal. So was nature. Plagues, pestilence, conquering nomads raping and pillaging. We like to think we're so sophisticated now, just because we've managed to beat back a few diseases, but there's still people to contend with. They're still raping and pillaging, they're just not as organized.

Sorry. Work makes me morbid. Then again, I doubt you mind.

Plagues and pestilence? How very odd. They continued through the ignorance of peasants, who visited open graves and did not do what was required to bury corpses properly. The maggots within the dead formed diseases much worse than that which was passed from cough and cold. The dead arise in legends and in lore, due to the sicknesses foolish mortals brought back from vandalizing graves, and perhaps making their bed with them in many places. Thus was born the idea of the undead, of zombies—an ancient fear, though completely illogical. Once dead, truly dead, a man cannot return.

As an employer of gypsies, it is quite abominable for nomads like themselves to be equated as the only ones who raped and pillaged, as the saying goes. Does not remember the reign of the Russian families, or those who fought for the church, only to corrupt the name of nature of their Creator and infect and infest with their foul seed?

I only meant that cruelty and the ability to be terrible is something that everyone has, and godawful things have always, and will always happen.

I'm sure a lot of the technology must be really confusing.
