I really ought to spend more time mingling with the humans. They're better conversationalists than goblins, and rarely infuriate me near as quickly.

If goblins are anything like sun imps, I know what you mean.

They're good for a momentary distraction, are endlessly entertaining in a mindless way, but when you wish to discuss anything whatsoever, they've got the reasoning, logic, and monumental stupidity of a soap dish.

Even in the old language, Imps aren't exactly good at deep discussion.

... they're good at cleaning?

Ah, another way in which my subjects are inferior. I doubt you've seen much of the goblin kingdom, but well, we're not really known for our cleanliness.

I haven't seen any of it, I'm sorry to say. In the Abarat, imps are caretakers and jesters. I can summon them, but they're not much for talking.

Goblins are jesters, but rarely do they do more than make beds and cause trouble for us in finding things, as far as tidying up is concerned.

This Abarat... I'm certain I've heard of it, but I've never been.

If you ever want one of the sun imps to visit, let me know. They're surprisingly sensitive.

I suppose I'm technically the queen now. If I ever find a way back, you'll have to come visit.

Sensitive... well, I do hope they can withstand my subjects' teasing.

If you ever do, milady, I would be glad to visit. It's rare that I find myself in realms other than the human world and my kingdom these days. Even brief interludes into neighboring kingdoms has become rather rare these days. Not much to be said to the other royals what cannot be sent by courier.

If they understand it at all.

I'm technically only the ruler of the Daytime hours, but I have many friends in the Nighttime ones as well. I think you'd like Babilonium - Six O'Clock.

It's quite universal, really. Pulling each other's ears and laughing when they yelp, that sort of prattering on.

To have a full tour of the Hours would be ideal, but of course, if you've got specific places which are worth a look, I'd be more glad to go there.

As long as they don't mind getting bitten, or magic'd to Odom's Spire, I'd say that's all right.

I'd do a full tour, but we'd spend more time at some places than others. Scoriae is pretty, but constant volcanic eruptions have made it where nobody lives there anymore.

Perhaps some, but not most. At least the ones I've had the great pleasure of meeting are good, fair people.

Ah yes, the Greeks. They're... Special, from what I hear.

It's a pleasure to meet you, I am Jareth, the Goblin king. Woe is necessary, or so I feel. It makes joy all the more sweet.

I'd very much enjoy that, Sarah.

And I haven't the foggiest what you mean about that, we've got wonderful dentists in the kingdom, since you've taken over certain aspects of the State.

We can rub elbows and mingle with the best of them.

Well, it's hardly fair to use England as a comparison group.

And hopefully some of the less dull. What you might consider 'the best' of humanity, I see as nothing more than praddling twaddles that have nothing more to talk about but their vast, idiotic wealth, and what they decide to buy with it.

And I'd say that considering what we started with, England's a wonderful comparison group, my dear.

I never liked his fairytale, around the whole lot of them seem utterly around the bend.

I'll go of course, but don't expect me to enjoy myself.
