Gabriel
I know you worry you'll be treated like your older brother, that's been a constant concern in your mind. Let me assure you that I have no worry to that effect.
The boy's spent his entire existence stringing himself up as a martyr for no causes but his own. I know that's a harsh reality to face, Gabriel, but there is nothing I can say that would change his mind, nothing I could do to make him feel anything but the hole in his heart. There are some creatures, Gabriel, that you just can't do anything for. I tried to help him understand that, but he took it as a game, as he does everything else.
I've let him do as he wishes, Gabriel, because it has to be done. He's done well in teaching this man I set before him, and that's his choice, just like all his other choices have been his. He's right in doing it, and yet, he's only just seen where his actions in doing it might lead him.
I want you to look over him still. Just as you always have. His actions will lead him somewhere bleak for him. He won't be sent back down, but he will need protection until events run their course. Look after your brother, Gabriel, look after him well. See to it that he does not take this as my doing, because although I know it's coming, I cannot prevent it, nor will I put my hand somewhere where it is not necessary.
