The video starts with Henn sitting in her computer chair, in a tank top and PJ pants, any bare skin speckled here and there with small crescents of what appears to be black glitter Hi, I'm Hennriette Turner, some of you may know me as Henn, and if you have recently acquired a Shadow, congratulations! Here's a few things you should know about the care and keeping of your new best friend.

Here she holds up Kitten, her Shadow, a millipede/snake-like thing, as long as a belt with feathery antennae This is Kitten, he's my Shadow, and this she drags Cass into the frame for a moment is Cass, I'm HIS Shadow, long story, don't ask. Now the first thing you should know is that Shadows are not, I repeat NOT dangerous, in fact, they're quite beneficial. See, humans, and various other assorted beings, generate a whole lot of stuff that we don't use, I'm not talking about litter or junk mail or excersize equipment, I'm talking about heat and electrical and emotional impulses that just build up and build up around us. What a Shadow does, is just siphons off anything that's colored outside the lines, so to speak. Here, let me demonstrate.

she holds up a small flip chart with a hollow line drawing of a person This is your average human or other various assorted being, and this she takes out a marker and starts filling it in is all that stuff I just mentioned, and see, eventually we get all filled up, neurons firing from nowhere to nowhere, et cetera, ad infinitum, you get the picture. And when it builds up to a point where it's got nowhere else to go, it overflows outside the lines Here she scribbles around the stickman's head A Shadow, like Kitten here, thinks this is great, because see, that overflow is what they eat, sometimes they can even get it BEFORE it overflows, keeping your energy at a good balanced equilibrium.

She tosses the chart over her shoulder and continues Now, this isn't to say that a Shadow is a cure to all that ails you, far from it, but they can certainly help, and not just because of what they eat, like any pet, or best friend, they're there for you, talk to them, they'll talk back, most of their language is in sense or emotional tags, it takes some getting used to, but they do make noise as well. Kitten lifts his head to chirp, sounding like a rusty hinge to demonstrate They all sound different, so like with any pet you'll have to get used to what exactly their own noises mean, but I think you'll get that figured out pretty quick.

So, basically, as long as you're a living, breathing human or other various assorted being, your Shadow will be just fine, there's not really any special care you need to take, just pay attention to it and it will pay attention to you. And also? The living, breathing part isn't mandatory either, because everyone's favorite Vampirates, and my godfathers, have one too, and Scarecrow's just fine, has been for years.
