I do not think I quite understand this concept of a graduation celebration, however, I am told that it is quite customary and I should participate to commemorate my own. I suppose.

Then you have my congratulations. As I understand, gifts are also traditional on this occasion. What would you like?

Thank you. And I do not know. This is a celebration that I was not expecting to participate in.

I will have to see if there is anything common to give, and then expand upon it.

Mary, being the father of such exceptional children such as yourself and your brothers and sister fills me with no end of pride.

Edward, of course. And Henry as a son. Elizabeth, I understand as well. But me?

That is the advantage I have over the King you remember. I have come to know you and your siblings as the remarkable people you are, and not as heirs or pawns or assets to the Realm. I see you and I see myself, and the things I regarded well in your mother, and I am proud.

Warmest congratulations, Lady Mary.

My Lady... how are you?

I wish I could say I was well.

I see we both continue to hold onto our old manners. I do get a few interesting looks around my place of work.

[Locked to Mary]

Your father's announcement, no doubt, is the cause of your distress?

What is it that you do now?

[Locked to Eustace]

Very much so.

Much the same as before, actually. I am the Spanish ambassador to Great Britain.

[Locked to Mary]

I expected so. I cannot expect it is anything but difficult for you. If it is not too forward, I would be happy to offer a friendly ear.

[info]bloodymarytudor

Then I admit to shock that you would get interesting looks when formality should be important there?

[Locked to Eustace]

I appreciate that. I just do not know if I have much to say on the matter that has not already been said. It seems that while the numbers of the year change, the actions do not.

[info]man_of_letters

Formality, yes. But as we have no actual royalty or nobility in our employ, referring to co-workers as "My Lord" or "Your Grace" is unusual.

[Locked to Mary]

It all does seem very familiar. I have been studying your father and his life in this world, attempting to gain perspective.

Hm. That is true. I can see where they would get confused looks.

[Locked to Eustace]

It is no different, truly, then it used to be.

I am adapting, though, if slowly. How have you found it?

[Locked to Mary]

That, I feel, is not quite true. People-- women, especially-- have far greater latitude in determining their own lives than in our old times.

Slow to adjust. Very slow.

[Locked to Eustace]

This is true, but I meant more with my father.

It is a very different world. It is heartening to know, though, that I am not the only one finding it a challenge.

[Locked to Mary]

Ah, well. If you will forgive a small impertinence, at least he is not having such adventures while also being King of England?

It is very challenging.

[Locked to Eustace]

But he is still very much in the public eye. Perhaps moreso because of this time's technology.

Thank you. I do not know if I will participate, despite the encouragement. I am told it is not like a... high school? graduation. Whatever that means.

You should. It's a once in a lifetime deal. High school is for when you're younger, like 18 or younger. You must be graduating college then? You should go.

Actually, you should go and you should ask Henry to go, because he would want to be there.

It's meant to celebrate your accomplishments in school. Whether you chose to attend or not is up to you, but I dare say that spending sometime for yourself will do you some good.
