I've decided, I have simply had enough of this feeling sorry for myself.

I wish to meet people.

So.

Slightly elderly mage looking to meet other mages, or even people with no magic, I suppose, as long as you promise not to be frightened by me. Zevran can attest that the worst I will usually give anyone is a withering look.

Withering looks can be quite frightening to the unprepared.

You have a point, I suppose! My name is Wynne. Where I came from, I was a mage of the Circle of Mages; in other words, mages under the aegis of my government.

My name is Albus Dumbledore. I headmaster a school for youngsters here, so I am familiar with the power of withering looks.

The wizards in my world had their own government, largely secret from those without magical abilities.

I'm a wizard! Does that count?

If I understand the term correctly, I think so. Someone who does magic, for good or ill? Though I do hope you use any magic talent you might have for good things. Young dark mages seem like such a waste.

Oh, I've found magic can be most effective when you don't use it. Though, it's a bit different here than in my old world. It's hard to explain. But definitely not for ill!

I happen to be a sorcerer. In fact, I was the highest ranking one in the realm I came from.

I was not the ranking mage in my circle, but perhaps I was the eldest! I have done magic for many years, and I wanted to speak with other magic users in this realm to compare experiences. I am Wynne, of the Ferelden Circle.

Withering looks? I think I can deal with those.

I was called a witch where I came from. A Wicked Witch, even.

I like meeting people and I'm...

Well I'm a sorcereress (in training), that's the same as a mage, right?

I have an affinity for the dark arts myself. Powerful, but wonderful when used properly.

My sons and I are all mages.

Your ... sons? They let you keep your children here? Where I am from, any child born to a mage of the circle was given to the Chantry ... the "church" I think you would call it ...

What are your sons like? I'm sorry if it's a personal thing ... but I would like to know.

Where I'm from, mages are regarded as Guardians and healers both. Our "church", the temples, taught me my spells, and I in turn taught my sons.

They're wonderful boys, very giving and kinds. Soren is sweet and exuberant. He's a black mage as I am - we focus on elemental spells that wound our enemies. Sindre is so kind and secretly strong. He's a white mage, a healer.

I suppose by your classifications I would be a white mage ... I am more skilled in healing than in offensive spells. You say you are a black mage, but that's merely the opposite of white, right? Not ... the dark arts?

Oh, no, it's merely healing versus harfmful, defensive versus offensive. I was one of Yevon's faithful until he was exposed as a false god. I was a Guardian. I use my magic to protect.

I see. I am glad to hear it. It was a real problem, in my homeland, to have mages who would be irresponsible with their powers. Demons could get into the natural world through a mage's mind, which obviously, would not end well for the rest of us.

My world was torn apart by a creature called Sin. We focused little on inward things - it was difficult to when at any moment, entire towns could be destroyed. I've never met a demon besides the ones here, nor do I feel any temptation to use my magic for ill. Magic simply is, the user controls what it's for. Soren actually uses his magic for practical things, and has taught me how to do the same.
