Word on the street is, Halloween is just as 'eventful' here as it was back home. Any idea what I should be stocking up for, or is it a surprise?

[ETA] [Mr. Singer] I was asking around for an occult supplier, and a nice woman named Che spoke highly of you. Is there some way we could talk a little business? I've got that growing sense of foreboding that only Halloween seems to be able to manage.

It's usually a surprise, last year was halloween movie stuff, and there's been zombies, the basics couldn't hurt, rock salt, silver bullets, holy water, shotgun, good sharp machete.

'Movie stuff'? Like what?

And I know this sounds ridiculous, but bear with me; there's no chance you'd know of a good occult store around, would you?

Like my house turned into a genuine Mystery Spot, and some people had zombies, I think Godzilla was attacking Tokyo, friend of mine's cafe had ghosts.

For supplies or texts?

Please tell me you're joking- I know I'm new, I won't even be offended.

Supplies, mostly. Although I have a few things in particular I'm looking for; someone said objects can follow people in, right? With my luck, he it's just late.

I only wish I was.

If you're in London, or nearby, there's the Winchesters shop at [address]
If you're in the states contact Bobby Singer [ph#]

Either way let them know Che sent you, they'll know what to give you.

Objects follow people through sometimes, I was one of those, whatever pulled me through made me human on the way in, but I know some things stay things.

I was afraid of that. Alright, thanks.

Bobby Singer, sent by Che. Got it. Thanks again.

You weren't human before you got here? Huh. I'll keep that in mind. If whatever this is makes him human, I might have to kick its ass on principle.

Don't let him throw you off if he answers the phone 'Singer Salvage', he's got an auto repair shop on the books, something tells me you know how that works.

And I wasn't! I was a '67 Chevy Impala, black and chrome.

I knew a few guys doing under the table work. I was the only one listed in the phone book. But whatever works- I'll check him out.

Really. And you're... alright, being a human?

Totally fine, well, better now that I've had time to get used to it, the balance thing still throws me off occasionally.

I think it helps that when I first got here I was older than I am now, there was a thing going around a while ago that was bouncing people along their own timelines and I got thrown something like thirty years back on my own, but I still remember some things from when I was older, it's complicated.

Che. I get it. Very nice.

Thank you, in advance. It sounds like you know your stuff, but if you ever need any help, feel free to call [number]. I'm a pretty capable wizard PI, or so I'm told.

Hey, when a car belongs to Hunters and then turns into a girl? That girl's bound to know some things, but I'll definitely keep you in mind if anything comes up.

It's on the shopping list. But I don't even have suppliers, here. I'm making it up as I go.

No smartass remarks.

Anything on your end?

Well, Halloween's less than a week away. Might want to get on that one, Harry.

I might have found something that belongs to you. Four legs, likes to try and knock you down. Maybe other things will drop in.

And what, miss out on the trembling dread and fearing for my life I could otherwise enjoy this week? You must be crazy.

And I'm sure he's pissed we were evicted from his apartment. Cat food, also on the list.

I hear there might be a place things fall into, when they follow us here.I'm going to check it out. And you know that wasn't what I was talking about.

New universe and all, I was hoping maybe you wanted to give it a shot. And

Stars, I'm just winning the tact award today. I wasn't even thinking. I get my hands on the basics, I can help you find some of it at least, alright? I've got a source, I should be able to get what I need for a basic location before long.

Which explains why Murphy, Michael, and SI are all disconnected numbers. I'd thought the phone was just rebelling. Great.

We'll figure something out. You can't just make someone stop existing like that.

I didn't pay much attention to the lessons on parallel universes. I thought staying alive in one reality was enough of a trick. I guess I'll have to brush up.

We'll find them. Somehow.

I'm all for talking business, within reason of course, I ain't weathered a Halloween here yet, but from what I hear it's a damn thing to weather.

Been holing up supplies my own self, what sort are you looking for?

Like I told Che, I must've left my manners in my other pants. I'm Harry Dresden, wizard, out of Chicago. Halloweens like this were typical where I'm from- helluva birthday, every year.

I do work for people that need it- investigative services mostly, missing persons and things. For the weekend, just a few things. A branch off a world tree is the only thing I don't think I could pick up offhand.

Halloweens always make me glad of the ghost-proof bunker downstairs. Think this one isn't going to change that.

Bad news is I don't have one of those laying around.
Good news is that I probably know where to get ahold of one.

I'm still working on everything-proofing the house. But most of what I need for that I can pick up around. And all I need is a place to get it, so I can make myself a new conduit before Saturday. Price... frankly, is an issue, but I'm good for it. I'll figure something out.

You're welcome to call me Bobby, most folks do.

Most important question I guess is if it has to be the World Tree or just a world tree.

Then please, call me Harry. I'm not used to having serious discussions about work outside other wizards, and we're not much of a social group.

A world tree is fine. Frankly, I haven't had enough money for the genuine article in a while, and going to get a piece myself is... tricky at best.

Hunters are about the same, sure, we've got our gathering places, but most of us are loners by necessity if nothing else.

In that case I'll be able to help without shuttling you off to someone else, hate doing that, especially to people who've been referred. Next question: branch from a tree that's sprouted from an angel's Grace work as well?

So I've heard. Not many in Chicago, at least that I know of. I get the feeling we're not operating on the same wavelength, though...

And I'm afraid not. Faith's a different kind of magic. It can foul up what I usually work with, and sadly I don't have enough faith in much of anything to make it work otherwise. I've used African and Asian world trees with no problem. If you could.

Happens with the Hunters too.

Makes sense. I'll have to dig through the storage, you have any sort of a dowsing rod for the right kind of wood? I'd have to dig through storage for one of those too.

I landed here with nothing- at least, I haven't found any of my stuff, yet. I'm not going to be terribly picky- I could use a switch in a pinch, if I had to. World tree wood just holds out a little longer- if I wanted something to last longer than the weekend.

Thanks for this, by the way. 'Not exactly in the practice of asking for help anymore.

They work, I try not to think about how, most people say it makes 'em dizzy, sort of like a rollercoaster. Makes it easy to go visit family across the pond.

What's your poison? Beer or coffee?

Considering I can't hop planes, and I'm not exactly sure I want to see about this Earth's version of the Nevernever, it sounds like the only game in town.

Beer if you've got it. Or I can pick some up on the way.
