Teague
Well... the best I can do is tell you what Guppy and I did. We'd have our circle, right, and snacks and tea and coffee and stuff for anyone who wanted it, and we'd both start out just saying hi to everyone and introducing ourselves, and after that... We just offered anyone an opportunity to talk if they wanted to. If we saw someone who looked really, y'know, troubled or out of place or something, we'd go over and talk to them one-on-one, or someone else would sometimes. Sometimes we introduced folks to each other who we knew could relate, or thought would get along. That's really it. Well. And we had a policy of never turning anyone away no matter what. Guppy and I expanded it, from a group for addicts and people with AIDS to a group just for anyone who wanted to come, for any reason. Don't matter what problems you got or don't, come for the company if you want, whatever. We had plenty of people turn up drunk or high or whatever, too. Guppy was a doctor, though, which was good -- he knew how to deal with that.
Kinda makes me think... it might be a good thing if we could find someone with medical training to be around, as a group leader or not, just... in case. That happened pretty regularly at my group back in the bar...
