The bridge of my nose is red, and when I touch it, it hurts.

And it's so weird I want to just keep touching it.

Maybe you've got a cold or allergies! Do muses get allergies?

I don't think we do. Maybe? I'm not sneezing or sniffly or anything. It's just red. Well, dark pink, maybe. And it's warm.

Maybe I have a dread disease?

Maybe you're gearing up for pulling Santa's sleigh early. Though you don't look like a reindeer. Perhaps you've got an infection. I wouldn't think that you could, though, considering I'd think deities are supposed to be immune to that sort of thing.

You could have my cousin take a look. She's the medical lady of our house, I'm just the scientist. Anyway, other than the hurty red nose, how are you?

I don't think I'd be particularly good at pulling anything - and quite glad I don't look like a deer. :) We usually are immune... all that lovely ichor kills lots of things.

But maybe I will have her look! And other then weird noses, I am disturbingly well. My brother's stopped being a tool, I'm positively enamored with a boy, I spent the loveliest day out napping in the sun... not a single thing to get woeful about save my complete lack of woe.

How are you, lovely? I see you're a guardian angel...

Ah, you've fallen in love with the poet. That in itself could be considered woeful. I hear they're helpless romantics. Though Chaucer's no worse a prospect for romance than a man who writes young adult novels.

I'm not. You know they sensationalize things in the news, Mr. Wills especially. I only did the right thing. After the last couple times, where I couldn't do anything, I'm finally feeling less like a tool for dreaming about things beyond my control. I'm just glad that I could help them at all.

I wouldn't say I've fallen in love... perhaps into adoration. And oh, they are... but for some reason, it's not so bad when you're smitten. It helps that he's brilliant, of course. He's no need for a muse at all, which makes me all the happier.

And I know... I tease. What you did was lovely, and part of what makes you a hero is that you did do the right thing. Just because you think what you did was a small thing, doesn't mean it didn't greatly affect someone else's life, you know.

Perhaps he's got an inner muse?

You know, I've heard that my entire family is oblivious to the things we do. It's hereditary. True facts.

Perhaps - whatever it is, it works. It takes away my fear of being liked for what I am, as opposed to being liked for myself, if that makes sense?

And it very well be - I hate to break it to you, Cass... doing heroic things simply because you feel you should, and not for marks of glory only solidifies your role as a hero. If you like, I could probably chart a constellation for you.... :)

Oh, it makes plenty of sense. Trust me, I know exactly how it feels. I'm not the product of my skills or my vocation, I'm me for me. You are, too.

Oh! You could do that? I mean, really, that's far too much for me. I'm not a hero on par with Orion or Perseus. I'm certainly not as memorable as Castor or Pollux. I'm just me.

Well, it's more my sister's thing, but she's not here, so I probably could.

And don't be silly! Perseus saved Andromeda from a sea monster... You helped save me from... things I don't want to think about. And you didn't even demand my hand in marriage afterward. Which really, I appreciate. That'd be weird.

And here I thought I couldn't top this year's birthday gift. Now I have a mission!

Well, you honestly don't have to. And well, I'm married twice over. Married a third time would just be awkward because not only are you too much a friend to be forced into marriage, well, you're female, and my wife can attest that I'm scared of vaginae.

You're going to insist on this, aren't you?

Of course I don't have to! I may love you, but you can't make me do things.

And yes. I am.

You will love it!

... Don't tempt me, Cass. I can make it as lovely or as horrid as I like.

I wouldn't, but I could

I know you could, which scares me. But really, if you're going to constellate me, do it for something a little more I don't know. Heroic. Or memorable. I suppose next time dragons show up, I could slay one...

I suppose the hesitation is that I wouldn't want to be up there without, y'know...

I wouldn't suggest fighting a dragon - They're generally annoying and messy. Let sleeping dragons lie, I always say.

Trust me, Cass. I can do it right. This is part of what I do... immortalizing those that deserve it, and choosing who that is.

I don't think I deserve all the credit, I mean. I wouldn't be who I am without at least someone's help and love. I trust you and your judgment, but what about the hero's heroes?

But...

But that means I might burn. Or tan.

Or... or have to wear a hat. :/

Why don't you have a baby yet? I'm tired of waiting. :)

Is it red forever now?

OH MY GOD.

Is my nose going to peel? That's gross.

And have it now. :D

No, it should go back to it's original color soon. And it may not peel. But it might.

Naw. She's content to take her time. She'd probably stay in for a couple more months if I let her.
