The hell is a Fangtasia? Is that like vampire Disneyland?

Close. It's a vampire nightclub.

It is? For real vampires, not stupid people who glue pointy plastic on their teeth and drink Bloody Marys and talk about how "dark" they are?

I seem to have been relocated to New York City. I just woke up in a club here, which apparently is also mine.

It is called 13. I have yet to go outside, since it's still vaguely light out, so I can't tell you how to get here. Look it up. Google it.

Ohhhh yeah, alternate universe. You're new like me. Apparently everything we know and love from our former lives has been torn away from us. It totally blows.

Awww, you can't go outside? I can!

I found it! It's on Google maps, I can portkey there easy.

Not everything.

Is that so? How nice for you.

Excellent. I'll be on the second floor, sneering at the bad decor.

Not really, if I don't wear a hat I get really gross zits. ...Wow, ew, overshare.

Sweet! I'll be there in ummm half an hour-ish.

I'll put a 'Cheeky Heather' on the guest list.

Really. I didn't come up with the name, it was far too hokey for my tastes. But hokey works in the south.

It seems I've been relocated, somehow. Though I'm not sure how. I'm in New York City, and I own a club here. 13.

Ahh. Tornado express.

Look at this: [website] it's both fun *and* informative.

NYC's a decent place to be, if you've got to be somewhere.

I am Erik. And what is your name?

The spirit and personification of misery and anguish, of Greco-Roman mythos. Daughter of Night. How interesting.

And I adored the books.

And Woe. Don't forget the woe. It's my favourite part. But I'm impressed - no one ever knows the underworlders.

Can't say I read the books - not the biggest fan of happy endings.

Oh, of course, forgive me. I've had plenty of time to learn all about the Romans and Greek hierarchy. I knew someone who was old enough to have known all about them almost first hand.

Then find a part that's depressing... and stop.

Well if you ever want a first hand account, let me know. Or let one of the others know. Some of them love to talk.

I do that occasionally, but then I can't stop and I read the damn happy ending anyway, and it's always the same.

I prefer the strong, silent types. Though you're always welcome to join me at any time, so long as your very presence doesn't make me lose control of my joie de vivre.

The hero wins, and gets the girl and they ride off into the sunset. It does get rather boring after a while.

There's enough misery in world that I'm quite capable of spending time with a person without crushing their will to live. Sometimes, at least.

Exactly. Cookie cutter stories. Literature was more fun when it was ok for the witch to eat the kids in the end.

So either you do your job well, or humans did it perfectly well enough on their own after a while.

Or when literature wasn't, and it was okay for the giant to smash all the soldiers' heads in. Such a shame that went the way of the great Gods of my living days.

Particularly here. Enough crazy shit goes on around here that I'm on permanent vacation.

So which gods were those? The only one I know here really in favor of the head bashing thing is Ares.

If you think weird powers and zombies and robot attacks and everything turning bright blue for a week exciting, then sure it is.

Ahh. Yeah, I don't know why I ask. I'm not social with them. But at least you seem to speak English, which is a plus.

Oh, there's all that sort of thing back home, but not to the superhero level that you seem to have here.

That's all right, they don't seem very social, themselves. Especially to southlanders. And yes, I learned English many years ago. It's far easier to communicate than in old Norse.

You people come from strange worlds. That's all I'm saying.

And yeah, I imagine it is - Old Norse is about as useful as Ancient Greek. But there's more than a few who haven't seemed to bother.

Anyhow. You have fun with your Fangtasia 2: Electric Boogaloo. I'll have to come claim that drink.

Malakai, it's a pleasure to meet you. I am Erik Northman. For once, I'm finding myself quite at home in New York City. Though I've found that there's no synthetic blood here. How is it that vampires are in the open when there's no reason to not still be underground?

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]volos
2009-07-21 03:13 am UTC (link)
And you, Erik. For the synthetic blood, I make a good imitation of the version from my world out of my home, for those that bother with it- there aren't many, at least not on these boards. As for the second, I could not tell you, other than to say that compared to some of the things that I have seen since finding myself here? Vampires are almost normal. It would shock the humans more, I think, if we bothered to hide.

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]erikbloodred
2009-07-21 03:18 am UTC (link)
Would you mind terribly if I were to taste test this synthetic blood that you've made? TruBlood was a fair comparison, it didn't taste awful, per se, but it didn't taste quite right. It was like drinking a candy man's blood, far too sweet. And since I'm not sure what the rules are for our kind, I'm not going to feed until I know I'm cleared to do that. What is the hierarchy in this world? Who are the sheriffs?

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]volos
2009-07-21 03:24 am UTC (link)
I would not mind at all. A friend of mine, who has since been taken from this place, left me his notes. Formulas. I have been getting closer, at least I believe so. Do you favor a type?

As for hierarchy, there is none, to speak of; the usual groups of hunters, dissenters, the occasional superhero. But so long as you take no more than your share, no one seems to care.

AB, though I'll try all that you've gotten finished.

Interesting. I'm guessing we police our own, then.

Right, come to the club when you've got a moment to spare, the address is above. I would very much appreciate to meet with you as soon as possible.
