	Did it ever strike you as odd that she lived? If you know her as well as you claim, she must have mentioned the forest-spirit. Even then, with what I was, I let her live. I would have cared to know she lived still, even forty years ago. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

I did not know her well, at all, Kai. We were kindred in that we were both witches, and our kind have always been loners, no? I knew her in passing, and I helped her fake her death for the benefit of her child. I never met young Ilya, I did not know his name. I did not put the whole story together right away, Lover, when we learned Ilya was your son. I had no reason to connect him to Kezia, or her to you, through him. It took some time, after the initial shock wore off, I realised who he was, but I saw no point in telling you, then, and upsetting Ilya further with the news I'd helped his mother effectively abandon him, for that is how he would see it.
