He can only communicate in song, and hearing him sing will compel people in the immediate area to sing along, or dance. Over the boards, this is likely just them humming along, if they know the ditty. Which reminds me- What is This Feeling- Wicked. I'll credit the songs, too. Since it's habit, now.]
