I hope everyone likes their presents.

Marius: A set of knives, and a new set of strings for his guitar, along with homemade fudge and rum brownies.
Angela: Homemade fudge brownies and a hardware firewall. Also, a sweater
Summerses: twelve kegs of local beer
Julien: a nice umbrella, some galoshes, and a dartboard that will stand up to throwing knives
Remy: Cookies. Lots and lots of cookies, in a variety of flavors. Also, fudge, brownies, and a bottle of old bourbon
Calliope: A book about various serial killers and a cat o' nine tails.
Nick: A pinstripe 'gangster' hat, and small purple heart locket.
Merlin and Belle: Excalibur, with a note that reads 'I know enough about God, and enough about the church to realize that this should be in your hands until the owner shows up.'
Petit: A trenchcoat, a box of cherry cordials (handmade), and a set of new tools
Bill: A silver compass with gemstones.
Alex: There are various parts and chemicals, and a welder

I think the cackle when I opened the box scared the boy Artan (really have to stop calling him that one of these days).

Totally worth it though. I take it the trenchcoat is like, guild-leader uniform now? Good to know.

I'm sending everyone I know cookbooks, just there's been a delay at the printer's, so, you'll be getting one soon.

Cookbooks are awesome.

I don't know if your granddad ever wore one, and I had a cape so. . . maybe? Long flowy dramatic garments are a requirement.

Heh, fair enough, and it does kind of make me look taller, so I appreciate that at least.

Well, it makes me look taller until Artan goes and uses my head for an armrest again, but we're working on that.

Maybe I should have gotten you the whip then.

Gotta keep 'em in line.

Naah, it's alright. Don't run things now the same way they used to be, and it's not like pointing out that I'm short undermines my authority or anything. Most of the newbies know better, and if they don't they learn pretty quick.

Going to break it in properly pretty soon. Promised a sort-of friend an outing, we've both been suddenly busy and it keeps not getting scheduled.

Still don't know why you'd want that job back, but more power to you.

Good! It's terrible when you're too busy to meet with friends. Not that I can lecture, I'm working my butt off.

Well I never had it in the first place, they kept trying to give it to me and I kept avoiding it, and then my dad was here for a while, like, actually him and not just another version, and he got things set up, started over from scratch, then went and got himself re-vortexed and left it to me and Artan.

And anyway, if this ends up not panning out, I can always go back to waitressing.

Being busy and having to wait for the right opportunity, that's what our problem is right now.

Pfft. I may be biased, but your father is an idiot. Could have helped me out a couple times back home if were so desperate to lead.

That's true. Hopefully things will work out.

We sure my dad and your Remy are the same guy?
... though to be fair the idiot thing kind of applies either way.

Yeah, we might have to wait a few more weeks, but we've already waited this long, another few weeks won't hurt.

The one that was here before, got mixed up with Sinister was your dad, right? He remembered the bar we made up at.

Sadly, yeah. He has redeeming characteristics, but his brains aren't it.

Must be very busy, then.

That'd be the one, yeah. Hope you smacked him for that, know I did, but it always bears repeating when he does something like that.

Pretty sure Henri got all the brains in the family. Used to say that was why he was bald, because the brains pushed all the hair out.

Mostly not, more the lack of proper opportunity, but once things hit a lull I'll do some deeper digging.

It was partially my fault, but if he hadn't been off playing the goddamn hero, I wouldn't have had to save his ass. I'm not good at it, for obvious reasons.

I always figured that. Mercy was a good woman too, one of my favorites.

That and he kind of excels at getting it in trouble. It's like some nervous tic he can't control. If I didn't know better I'd say it was some kind of curse.

She's the one who figured out how to get me into a dress for some to-do that I was refusing to dress up for.

I've seen that particular tic in action. Guess people never do change.

She's one of the few people I miss.

And didn't freak out anywhere near as badly about my existence as the one before my dad did.

Not entirely sure what this says about his survival instincts, but we'll see.

Yeah, didn't get to talk to him much due to the freaking out. Not that I really mind that, might be safer that way.

Still getting used to the fact that everyone's not out to get me.

Might be. I'd avoid all contact with people who've been pegged by Sinister, Apocalypse, or any other evil geneticist.

It's kind of neat, huh? Except I went and made myself a target again. Turns out I like assassination attempts.

Well that's just common sense.

I do too, actually, mostly just so I can tell them they're doing it wrong, and somehow I've managed to avoid making myself a target, huh. Maybe I should wear a sign or something.

Maybe if I get really bored. In which case you'll be the first to know.

Well, maybe after Jack and Bill, I did promise them another kidnapping sometime, for old time's sake, and to make sure Free knows what she's doing.

[info]petitmort

Fair enough.

And pirates need frequent kidnapping to stay fresh?

The first time I met those two was because they'd kidnapped me in a ransom attempt. It wasn't really a botched kidnapping, but it didn't really turn out how anyone was expecting.
