Suddenly I have a boatload of candy. It's too early for Valentine's and a bit too late for Halloween, but I have candy. Not a problem. Anybody want?

Sure. I have totally earned some candy.

Oh thank God.

I thought I'd have to keep all of this around forever.

I can't let good candy go uneaten!

It'd be almost blasphemous.

It so would.

I have hard candy and chocolate and truffles - you name it, I've got it.

Ooooh.

Cherry hard candies and chocolate sound good right now.

Fantastic!

Swing by the office. There's plenty.

Where are you at? I have, uh, travel restrictions, sadly.

Ah.

Manhattan. The office is [address].

Damn.

It's probably not that great an idea for me to go into London, at this point.

Oh well.

Maybe if you put it in a bowl someplace public it'll go away.

Excuse me, but WHAT?

Maybe it's really late or maybe I'm really tired, but huh?

Which bit?

The part about it not being a good idea to go to London? Or assuming your co-workers are mooches?

Actually, I didn't realize those were two separate aspects.

My co-workers are indeed mooches. But they're also lazy bastards and they've all gone.

And why is it not a good idea to go to London? That part I know I'm still confused on.

Oh, uh, because I've just manifested superpowers? That I don't have a good hold on yet. And it's magnetic manipulation, so, uh, yeah.

Rock fall, everybody dies.

The place I'm staying at is designed for people like me.

Okay.

And you are... where, exactly?

I got lost somewhere in this conversation and haven't found the exit yet.

England.

I don't know if I'm allowed to say more, I'm sorry.

Following now. It's been a long day.

I'd send you some of the candy, but I think the chocolate would be melted by the time it got to you.

Probably. Don't worry about it.

I bribe my roommate to get chocolate for me when I have money.

Typically, given my profession, I don't condone bribery, but when it's chocolate, exceptions can be made.

They get snarky if you steal the candy from the adults' stash.

It's better than having an angry teacher.

Not that I think they'd hold it against us or anything.

There are separate candy stashes?

What, do the adults have cordials with the good stuff in 'em or something?

I would honestly bet that it's because the males are afraid of what would happen if one of the female teachers got really pissy. I don't want to imagine some of them with PMS.

Yeah. I suppose women with superpowers could have horrendous effects on others if they had an extremely bad day.

Yeah. The guys probably have whatever it is that keeps men on an even keel. I try not to think about it too much.

No. Men have something equivalent to PMS too. Otherwise they wouldn't have those head-up-their-as days.

That's true. It's scary to think everybody here is going to have the same time of the month.

I may have to hide.

Yes. You might.

And maybe get your own candy stash.
